Summers are always great. Summers give us a reason to walk around in the streets wearing hot pants, spaghetti, sleeveless tops, little black dresses, beach dresses, shorts, boxers, and what not. But, alas! Everything has its own pros and cons.
Come summers, and most of us also have to deal with our bodies begging us for more rejuvenation and care after infinite number days spent soaking up the sun, surf and sand during our vacations. Summers can cause oil and sweat production and skin problems—namely sunburn, heat rashes and breakouts—that seem to increase along with the temperature.
Did you know that there are a lot of ways in which tea can make you look more beautiful? In fact, there are no limits to the benefits that a daily cup of tea brings us with its herbal infusion of organic and natural ingredients. It has the potential to relax our minds along with making us beautiful.
So here’s how you could put your tea stash to use to solve all your beauty problems:
1. Black Tea
Working till late at nights and spending hours staring into our computers, phones or televisions can make our eyes look puffy and tired. It gets worse during exam days when most of us are sleep deprived.
This is when black tea comes to our rescue. Steep two bags of black tea in hot water for five minutes and then refrigerate the contents until they’re cold. Apply a tea bag to each eye and relax for some time. This will soothe your puffy eyes and bring a renewed glow to your face.
2. Green tea
Summers and frizzy hair are two synonymous things. Our hair tend to lose their shine because of the pollution and heat. But why worry when you have green tea?
Squeeze juice from green tea leaves and mix with one-third water in a spray bottle. Massage this mixture over the hair scalp, and hang out in the sun for about 30 minutes (do keep your SPF in mind).
Rinse thoroughly and condition well with a cup of cold green tea water. Your hair will feel soft and smooth with a party-ready shine!
3. Peppermint tea
Are you upset because of rough or patchy skin? Peppermint tea can surely bring a smile to your face.
Refrigerate a cup of concentrated peppermint tea, and add two or three drops of honey to it after it cools. Soak a cotton ball, gently dab it all over your face and rinse it off after ten-fifteen minutes.
Your skin will feel smooth, toned up and reattain its young look.
4. Jasmine Tea
Planning to go for a date but worried about bad breath? Or want to fight tooth decay? Well then, don’t you worry child, as jasmine tea has got a plan for you.
The components of jasmine tea—benzaldehyde, benzoic acid and benzyl benzoate—have very effective germicidal, bactericidal, fungicidal and antiviral properties which reduce bacteria in the body and build immunity against cold and cough. Its fluoride content helps resist the formation of cavities to keep bad breath and tooth decay away.
Also, just in case your date doesn’t end well, the tranquil, unique and blissful aroma of jasmine tea will stimulate the release of certain hormones in the body, including serotonin, which will boost your energy and uplift your mood.
5. Oolong Tea
Forever 21 is what most of us want, be it for clothes or age.
Continuous exposure to heat can accelerate the aging process of skin due to the exposure to the free radicals present in the air.
The high levels of antioxidants present in oolong tea, slow down the oxidation of cells leading to a much healthier looking skin and helps in retaining that youthful “Forever 21” kind of look.
