Spoon University at UCSB is the perfect way to combine food, media, entertainment and community.
1. Share your passion for food with other major foodies
We’re all about food at Spoon. Help make new food knowledge accessible to students with recipes, how to’s, restaurant ratings, events, and more with Spoon University at UCSB. Join the biggest foodies in college and on campus with our chapter.
2. Become part of a community!
Meet new people. Become a member and connect with other students. We will still be hosting meetings and creating new content while off campus during the COVID-19 pandemic. Join us in virtual zoom hangouts and meetings and once we’re back at UCSB, you’ll have the opportunity to participate in many food related bonding experiences.
3. It’s a great experience
Learn how to write about food, photograph food, work on marketing, and be part of a team. Help make our chapter into a fun community that can take road trips to nearby food festivals or host potlucks and cook-offs.
4. Plan foodie events
Make food a major part of your college experience. The Spoon UCSB chapter has previously held Foodchella. Help us reinstate fun events for UCSB students.
5. Get out of your comfort zone
If you didn’t have a reason already, you’ll have one as a Spoonie to try new foods. Learn more about food, expand your palate, join the chapter on food excursions, and try new recipes to share with the Spoon Community— strictly for research purposes, of course!
6. Contribute to something meaningful
Spoon University at UCSB is what we make of it. Share your enthusiasm, experiences, food knowledge, and wisdom with other students and provide incoming students with important know-how.
7. Get involved
Contribute to campus life. Take on leadership roles. You will have the opportunity to become a marketing director, editorial director, or photo director for the UCSB chapter. Together we will help grow the chapter and provide experiences for the chapter and community.
8. Become the next Foodgod
…or at least start on your way to getting close.
9. Explore the Santa Barbara food scene
Want to check out a new restaurant? Need a reason? As a Spoonie, it’s your job. We have tons of places in Isla Vista, Goleta, and Santa Barbara to discover. Join us.
10. Networking opportunities
If you’re still not convinced, there are Spoon University chapters all across the U.S. and even abroad. Becoming part of our community allows you to connect with Spoonies from all over! We can also contact companies for sponsorship opportunities for our chapter.
Together we can create one of the best college experiences! Follow our instagram @spoon_ucsb to learn more and get inside scoops on what’s new in the food world. We can’t wait to see what you have to offer!
