The LA area is known for its vegetarian and vegan friendly restaurants, and Med Cafe is part of the reason why. The quirky music choices, ranging from jazz to classic rock, create a chill vibe to relax and feel the ocean breeze on the patio. Its menu is wide ranging and features Mediterranean food for a decent price.
I haven’t seen many Mediterranean places in the Venice and Santa Monica area and I was pleasantly surprised by how good the food was. I ordered the Lemon Pepper Chicken Sandwich and I could taste how fresh the vegetables were. The focaccia bread was warm and fresh and the sauce used on the sandwich added a really nice kick that brought the whole thing together. My friend had the falafel pita said the colorful vegetables tasted great and the falafel was seasoned well with a delicious, flaky texture. My other friend tried the lamb kabob and said the lamb was cooked very well, retaining its tenderness and taste. Once again, the dish came with a variety of fresh vegetables and pita bread, all of which tasted fresh and well made.
Even though I didn’t try the vegan or vegetarian options, the menu has plenty of these, including salads, spreads, meze and pitas. These are not only vegan and vegetarian, but also gluten free in some cases, so there’s something for everybody.
With good prices and quick service, this is a great place to stop by, get some hummus and relax right by the ocean. Check out Med Cafe’s hours, location, menu and more below.
