Cafes Turned into Movie Sets

This article is written by a student writer from the Spoon University at UC Berkeley chapter.

During the summer, I wrote a piece on Grocery Shopping Filmsso by now it’s no secret that I’m not only a major foodie but also a movie fanatic. I miss going to the diners and cafes in New York City that were backdrops for movies; I walked ten blocks just to get the corned beef sandwich that Harry and Sally had in Katz’s Deli, and I waited in line for two hours for the frozen hot chocolate at Serendipity III. Going to those restaurants pulled me closer to my favorite movies. Lucky for me, Berkeley is just a forty-minute BART ride away from San Francisco, the city where dreams and movies (and hippies) are made. Combining my two passions–food and movies–I have come up with three cafes in SF all movie lovers should worship.
