Berkeley’s South Side has a plethora of delicious restaurants that can satisfy any craving. We all have our favorite Berkeley food picks, and here’s what yours says about you:
1) Tako Sushi or Joshu-Ya Brasserie
If you’re into the budget friendly bites of Tako Sushi, you’re laid back, maybe a little more budget concious and not afraid of the delicious, albeit low end sushi. If you prefer Joshu-Ya, you like being more high-end and maybe are addicted to posting foodie Instagram posts. As you already know, in addition to the sushi being more fancy, the light and atmosphere at Joshu-Ya is perfect for Instagram.
2) Fat Slice or Artichoke Basille’s
The Fat Slicer is the late night, grease loving friend who never says no to a night out on Greek row or a 3am food grab after finishing a paper. If you’re a tad more fancy, Artichoke Basille’s artichoke pizza is definitely not too saucy for you and finishing the entire slice isn’t ever a question.
3) Racha Cafe or Thai Basil
Racha has the best Pad Thai around, so if you’re here, you’re probably slurping up the extra peanuty noodles with a group of friends for midterm therapy. You aren’t afraid of mixing sweet and savory and are thus considered the adventurous one in your friend group. If you pick Thai Basil, you’ve somehow managed to find cash in your wallet and are craving their Basil Fried Rice. You’re daring and persistent enough to brave the long line for that perfect bite of rice. Perfection—seriously.
4) Mount Everest or House of Curries
For nights when all you need is Indian food, both House of Curries and Mount Everest are good places to go. Both options don’t pack a lot of heat, so you can go ahead and bring your spice challenged friends along. However, if you prefer Mount Everest, you know they can provide the heat if you need it. You like a little bit of adventure in life and aren’t afraid of having to drink a lot of water after. If you like House of Curries, you like playing on the safe side and probably already have your order ready to go before you even step in the door.
Whatever place you pick, you can’t go wrong on Berkeley’s South Side and with so many options, there’s bound to be a restaurant for everyone’s personality.
