The Definitive Ranking of the Best Iced Coffee On Penn’s Campus

This article is written by a student writer from the Spoon University at U Penn chapter.

1. Avril 50

A hidden gem of Penn, this place has some seriously great iced coffee. The owner makes every iced latte fresh with ice cubes made of coffee, so you don’t even have to worry about your coffee getting watered down as the ice melts. In addition, Avril 50 has a great selection of magazines, cute postcards and chocolates (I recommend the chocolate covered espresso beans).

2. HubBub

Cold brew iced coffee and iced lattes are both awesome here. More importantly though, HubBub’s latte art makes for extremely insta-worthy pics. Bonus: if you buy a bag of their coffee beans, they’ll grind them up for you and give you a coffee on the house!

3. Williams Café

Run entirely by Penn students, this joint has awesome vibes and great iced coffee. Williams takes PennCash, and its music playlist is seriously on point. My drink of choice here is an iced red eye chai (aka a chai latte with a shot of espresso) – it is especially good for people who don’t like the taste of coffee that much but need a caffeine boost to get through that 9am class.

4. Metropolitan Bakery

In addition to iced coffee, Metro has really great food – especially homemade almond croissants and breakfast sandwiches. The lines can get pretty long here, especially around lunch time, but it’s seriously worth it. Metro makes all of its pastries and breads fresh daily and offers a ton of gluten-free and vegan options.

5. Capogiro Gelato

Capo is famous for its amazing homemade gelato (of which they have a rotating menu of 385!), but it also serve great iced La Colombe coffee. Get the best of both worlds with a capuccino gelato shake – basically a heavenly coffee milkshake. Mind. Blown.

6. United By Blue Coffeehouse & Clothier

This adorable coffee shop/clothing store hybrid is a hipster wonderland with an amazing iced coffee selection. Their iced chai lattes, made in small batches by a local tea brewer every day, is out of this world. If you have a major sweet tooth like mine, ask for a bit of simple syrup in yours.

7. Così

This lunch spot has quality iced coffee, awesome salads and some seriously killer mojito lemonade. P.s. they give out free coffee every single Wednesday!

8. Starbucks

Starbucks is a staple of Penn students and commuters alike. The Starbucks under 1920 Commons takes dining dollars and is a great place to study (if you don’t mind a bit of background noise). The only downside is that the line can get ridiculously long, but if you aren’t going at peak times (right after/before classes), you should be fine.

9. Dunkin’ Donuts

Dunkin’, another staple for Penn students and commuters, is a classic go-to spot for iced coffee. It also has really good prices and is probably the fastest option on this list. Tip: coffee is $0.99 here with the DD perks app, and free every time the Eagles win a football game.

10. Bridge Café

While they do have good coffee here, the main event is the omelettes, which are admittedly, straight fire. Ask for guac on top of your omelet – you’ll thank me later.

There are a lot of coffee shops on Penn’s campus. If you don’t see your favorite spot in this list, let us know in the comments!
