Going to college with a gluten allergy, I feared the FOMO that comes along with not being able to chow down on late night eats with my friends. Fortunately, Ann Arbor is a town with such amazing food options, and I quickly realized that there were places and accommodations that could be made to satisfy my late night stomach. Here are the eight best gluten free late night eats in Ann Arbor.
1. Gluten Free Feta Bread from Pizza House
There is always so much hype around the famous feta bread, so when I found out that a gluten free version existed, I just had to try it. Since that day, it has been my after hours go-to. Luckily, I can join in and indulge in the cheesy, greasy goodness to my heart’s content.
2. Collider from Rod’s Diner
Take one look at the place and you might think, “Hmm maybe not”, but trust me, this hole-in-the-wall diner serves the best frozen yogurt on campus. A collider is a mix of all of your favorite toppings blended into an amazing, creamy frozen yogurt. With so many gluten free toppings available, you have to try it.
3. Garlic Parmesan French Fries from BurgerFi
I have a serious obsession with french fries, and I can honestly say that these are, by far, my favorite. They are greasy and thick with an extra crispy outside. The parmesan and garlic touch is seriously to die for.
4. Gluten Free Pizza from NYPD
This menu is overwhelming and has a million options, but they are most famous for their different types of pizza. They have options such as Philly cheesesteak pizza or BBQ chicken pizza, but my favorites are the grilled chicken pizza and the buffalo chicken pizza.
5. Hippie Hash from Fleetwood Diner
This diner, famous for their Hippie Hash, is located right on Main Street. This may not be a convenient late night spot, but don’t worry, they deliver. The layer of crispy hash browns topped with cheese, vegetables, and/or meat cannot be passed up.
6. Fried Plantains and Shoestring Fries from Frita Batidos
No one comes to Ann Arbor and has not heard of Frita Batidos. They are famous for their Instagram-worthy burgers and epic with shoestring fries. Do not worry, almost everything there can be made gluten free. I would highly recommend the fried plantains, which are crunchy on the outside and gooey on the inside, served with a side of cilantro garlic butter.
If you are not willing to be that ambitious, their simple, but famous shoestring fries can be made in a gluten free fryer and taste just as delicious.

7. Chipati Salad from Pizza House
Unfortunately, there is no such thing as a gluten free chipati. However, you can get the chipati salad without the pita. If you are looking for a slightly healthier option, this is the way to go. These salads are delicious and it is best served topped with delicious chipati sauce.
8. Milkshakes from Pizza Bob’s
With so many different flavor options, how could you turn down the original Pizza Bob’s? After a night of studying or going out, there is nothing more satisfying than a nice big milkshake. With flavors such as hot fudge, vanilla, Butterfinger, peanut butter, and coffee, you really cannot go wrong.
With so many options in Ann Arbor, GF food FOMO no longer has to exist. So, scroll through your options, pick your eats, and indulge with your friends after a night out in the best college town of ’em all.
