The Boston Marathon is something you don’t want to miss, especially if you are in Boston that weekend. It’s a big deal for a lot of marathon runners. There is a lot of events happening all over the city but the celebration is definitely in the air. The marathon has an official distance of 26.2 miles. That’s a lot of ground to cover, right? But that’s what makes the route so exciting. There are a lot of places along the official route you can stop by for a quick bite. As a local foodie, I have a few of my own favorite spots I usually go to fuel up at and they are conveniently located along the marathon route.
Angel’s Café
This beautiful cafe opens at 5 AM and it is the perfect morning stop, especially if you are an early-morning commuter. Located at 285 West Main St. in Hopkinton, it’s just a 10-minute drive from the marathon’s starting line. Grab a fresh pastry and a hot cup of coffee before going to cheer on the marathon runners.
The Linden Store
Whether you’re hungry for breakfast or lunch, this is your next stop along the way. Minutes away from Wellesley College, you’ll find this family-run deli, located at 162 Linden St. in Wellesley. Fill up on this scrumptious healthy food before heading back to watch the runners.
Eagle’s Deli
Does watching the runners makes you want to try something you never thought you could? Stop off at Eagle’s Deli at Cleveland Circle and try the super-sized “challenge” meals. The deli is located at 1918 Beacon St. in Brighton and you’re sure to find something appealing to you. Watch the marathon while you’re conquering your own delicious challenges indoors.
The Lower Depths Tap Room
Because what’s better than tacos and beer? With its outdoor seating, the Lower Depths is the perfect stop for watching the marathon while spoiling your bellies with some good food. it is located at 476 Commonwealth Ave. in Boston, stop by and get some of the traditional pub favorites. Just a reminder that this pub is cash-only, so come prepared or use the ATM, located inside the restaurant.
Tico Boston
You didn’t know you wanted this food until you’ve had it! Located at the finish line, 222 Berkeley St. in Boston, this food is sure to be something you’ll remember. With the restaurant’s fun atmosphere and amazing drink selection, the marathon day will certainly end with a celebration.
