Is Argo Tea worth the hype?
Yes, yes it is. After seeing multiple Instagram pictures and snapchats of these cute little polka dot cups, I knew I had to investigate the new Argo Tea myself. Located next to Pita Pit in the Southwest residential area, it’s a great new spot to check out. If you need that little extra kick of caffeine, tea is a great alternative to coffee. Argo Tea has a huge range of teas, coffee, and food items, it’s a great spot to escape the craziness of Southwest.
Inside of Argo Tea, it is bright and lively. There’s quite a few little tables and chairs you can do homework, sit and chat with friends, or just stop by quickly.
They have a massive selection of drinks on an electric menu (it changes every 30ish seconds, super cool and high tech). If you’re overwhelmed with their selection, their employees are friendly, extremely knowledgable, and will offer suggestions and opinions if you need a little help choosing. They also have samples out in front of the store that you can try.
Their drinks range from their hot or iced Signature Drinks, to classic teas, coffee, espresso and everything in between. Argo also has some fun options when you’re looking to switch it up a little. They have Tea Sparkles, if you like the tingle of seltzer bubbles, Tea Squeezes that contain lemonade, or a Teapuccino, a creamier alternative. If you’re into bubble tea, Argo’s Bubble Tea is a must- try. Argo’s bubble tea isn’t your average bubble tea though. They’re made of squares, yes squares not bubbles, of coconut soaked in caramel called “Nata de Coco”. Also, a fun little fact that the name “bubble tea” comes from the bubbles when you shake the tea, not the stuff at the bottom.
Argo’s selection isn’t limited to just beverages. They also have a variety of little pastries and baked goods that pair perfectly with your beverage. Their pastries include croissants, macrons, cookies, and muffins. One really cool thing is that all their pastries are actually made in France, and then flown over to the stores here. So while you’re sipping your espresso and eating a croissant you can pretend you’re in front of the Eiffel Tower and not procrastinating on exams.
If Argo Tea really captivates your heart and tastebuds, which I’m sure it will, they have purchasable loose leaf tea. Located conveniently in canisters on a tea wall, Argo Tea has an affordable range of loose leaf tea you can take back to your dorm and brew yourself. If you’re new to the loose leaf tea world they also have all the tea ware you’d need to get started.
10/10 would recommend swinging by Argo Tea the next time you get the chance.
