Milford, Massachusetts is a town that goes by many names: Milftown, Grav City, Gravtown USA, The Dirty Milf, and many more. Some of our nicknames suggest that we have a large appetite, and that’s not a lie. Though some of the places we enjoy may not be in Milford, it’s definitely flocked with Milfordians. Here are 10 signs you grew up eating in Milford MA (or wish you grew up in Milford).
1. You’ve been to a party catered by Oliva’s

What’s a graduation party without some delicious Oliva’s Market catering? The place that is home to the original B.O.G. has probably catered 97.8% of all of the functions you have been to in Milford.
2. You’ve been late to school because Coffee Bean

The Little Coffee Bean is a must when you’re home from college for break or even a weekend, and it was definitely the place to be every morning before school and every Saturday. You can’t go to this place without having a class reunion.
3. JJ’s in the Summer

The time of the year has come when JJ’s opens its doors to its amazing ice cream. This is another spot where a class reunion is inevitable.
4. DQ after any school function

This place was the hangout spot. 99% of its staff was high school students. Every Friday night after a Best Buddies dance, you knew exactly where to go. It is one of the busiest Dairy Queens in New England, probably due to the high amount of hormones that run through DQ on any given night.
5. Honey Dew

Honey Dew was literally right next to the high school, so you couldn’t help but stop there before or after school for a Mocha Madness, or in other words, chocolate milk with caffeine. Another fan favorite was the Oreo milkshake.
6. Garden

Need I say more? Buffalo chicken calzones are God’s gift to this town. There’s always a super long line, but if you don’t feel like waiting you can just go to the Subway next door.
7. Portuguese and Brazilian Food

The other 2.2% of the Milford population that didn’t have Oliva’s cater their grad party probably had Portuguese or Brazilian cuisine and it was delicious. Having a large population of both in our town brings amazing food like Casa Brasil, and Padaria Brasil Bakery that sells Kinder bars (don’t tell anyone). Also shoutout to the Portuguese Picnic, you my bae.
8. Wookies

No. Not the character from Star Wars. The term “wookies” is a combined word stemming from “warm” and “cookies”. $1 at lunch gets you 3 delicious wookies straight from the…well, heater. Extra points if you buy some for everyone.
9. Dunkin’ Donuts

That laundromat next to Stacy used to be a Dunkin’s and it’s where I tried my first iced coffee on free iced coffee day. All the walkers would go there after school to get their almost-like-coffee cooladas and a boston creme donut before heading over to town park to hang with the stoner skateboarders. No matter where you are in town you’ll always be close to one, since there’s 4 in total.
10. McDonald’s after midnight

Driving around with your friends? Harvest Dance is over? Hungry but everywhere else is closed? Don’t worry, head to the McDonald’s on South Main Street. Open 24 hours and stock-full of your favorite greasy foods, and another class reunion.
