This New Jersey Bagel Store Transforms Your Favorite Junk Foods Into Bagels

This article is written by a student writer from the Spoon University at U Iowa chapter.

As a New Yorker, it’s not exactly like I have anything against New Jersey—let’s just say we’ve all had our bad moments (*cough* Jersey Shore *cough*). But what Jersey does well, it does really, really well. I’m talking Overloads, aka junk food bagels.

Yep, that’s right. Junk food, but a bagel. I’ll wait while you gather yourself.

While there’s actually a place in Williamsburg bearing the title of the original Rainbow Bagel, another bagel store, The Bagel Nook, opened up in New Jersey in 2015. With a Buzzfeed video gone wild, they’ve since gained an insane number of people each and every morning. Whole flocks of people can’t be wrong, can they?

The Gooey, Glorious Overload Bagel

The thing that separates The Bagel Nook from any regular bagel joint on your corner is the Overload Bagel. A lot of people know about the infamous Oreo Overload Bagel, but the store has since expanded into new realms of junk food glory. Their creations will confuse you, startle you, and leave you wanting to book a plane ASAP.

Dorito Overload Bagel

One of their newest creations, the Dorito bagel, is stuffed with Jalapeño Cheddar Cream Cheese and extra Doritos. Talk about being extra.

Hot Cheeto

A Hot Cheetos bagel with Cool Ranch cream cheese. Worth the Cheetos fingers? Probably. Worth the third-degree tongue burn? You decide.

Ice Cream Sundae Overload

Ditch that Carvel ice cream cake for your birthday this year, because you’re an adventurous individual who doesn’t need to be a part of the system. The Cocoa Puff bagel has vanilla milkshake cream cheese and is stuffed with bananas, sprinkles, and chocolate syrup.

Elvis Overload

Listen to some oldies by the King while you munch on this French toast bagel with peanut butter cream cheese, bananas, and bacon. Or just watch Lilo & Stitch, because that movie is perf.

S’mores Overload

If you’re looking to pretend you’re super outdoorsy and love camping and hiking and, uh, “fresh air,” try this Oreo bagel with s’more cream cheese and chocolate chip cookies, and you’ll feel like a mountain man for sure.

Crumb Cake Overload

Cinnamon Toast Crunch bagel with crumb cake cream cheese, and then stuffed with actual crumb cake. Yep, we all just crumbed.

Triple Chocolate Chunk Overload

This is one for the Cookie Monster, with a chocolate chip bagel and chocolate chip cream cheese, then stuffed with cookies. Try dipping it in milk, I want to know what it would taste like.

The Oreo Overload

The infamous bagel that started it all, it’s become the icon of the Bagel Nook. Oreo Bagel. Oreo cream cheese. Oreos. Did I mention Oreos? Yeah, just let that one sit.

Start Packing

With new, innovative flavors and combinations, the only thing that sucks about the Bagel Nook is that you can only get its delicious creations in a single place. Maybe they’ll branch out across the country? One can only hope.
