As good as food tastes in your mouth, some of it will do a lot more when placed on your skin. Yes, we’re talking about smearing real, everyday food on your face.
So grab your friends and hit up the closest super market, because your skin is about to desperately crave the tastiest face masks it has ever seen.
1. Honey
Honey is amazing for your skin for two reasons. First, it helps clear blemish-prone skin with its antibacterial properties, and second, it is extremely moisturizing, meaning it wont be drying or irritating.
2. Greek Yogurt (full fat)
It’s officially time to go Greek. Greek yogurt contains lactic acid which helps exfoliate the skin. It is also incredible at reducing inflammation and killing bacteria.
3. Bananas
Besides their taste, the best part about bananas is that they help fade dark spots and blemishes to brighten skin, and they act as a moisturizer too.
4. Strawberries
Strawberries are great because not only do they remove excess oil from your face, but they also help brighten your skin since they’re high in antioxidants.
5. Lemon Juice
Lemons act as natural exfoliants because they contain citric acid. They help to diminish skin discoloration and to heal and prevent acne blemishes. Lemon juice can be a little irritating, so make sure to dilute it with some water and use it in small amounts if you have sensitive skin.
6. Brown Sugar
Unlike some other foods and products, brown sugar is a great exfoliator because its particles are very small, meaning they won’t tear the skin. It also contains glycolic acid which fights bacteria.
7. Egg
Eggs are mainly beneficial to the skin because they tighten pores and create a firmer outer layer. Egg whites are the part that accomplishes this, though using the entire egg can be moisturizing.
8. Oats
Oats that have been ground down and made into a paste are excellent for smoothing, soothing, and moisturizing the skin.
