On Wednesday, Oct. 25, Grubhub and Spoon University teamed up to host Studyhub — a pop-up study break event to help students combat midterms stress — at the University of Texas at Austin.
Backstage Prep
It was a beautiful, sunny Austin afternoon with a slight chill in the air, and Spoon Texas chapter members arrived on-site early to make sure everything was set up for Studyhub before doors opened at 4PM. We assembled a photo booth wall made from soft pretzels, set up tables filled with donuts and swag, and got a serious arm workout inflating a ridiculously large avocado (shown below) with a bicycle pump.
It’s Showtime
Once the clock struck 4PM, people began trickling in to our lovely outdoor event location at Space 24 Twenty. The line wrapped around the tents, and students who RSVP’d received tickets for food, massages, and a chance to win a pretty sweet Grubhub bicycle. Here are a few snaps of our members manning the tents:
While waiting in line to get a seriously relaxing massage, students hopped over to the photo booth and got their slo-mo video taken with some wacky props, such as giant inflatable food, bubbles, crazy sunglasses, and more.
And if those activities didn’t appeal to them, they could just sit, relax, share a laugh with friends, and take a breather before getting back to the midterms studying grind.
Curtain Call
All in all, Studyhub was the perfect event for college students needing a quick pick-me-up. We saw students having a great time, heard lots of laughter, and were proud of how it all turned out. Thanks to Grubhub and Spoon University for this awesome event, and thanks to our members for making it come to life! If you didn’t make this one, be sure to keep your eyes peeled for our next event.
