To me, eating food isn’t just a necessity, it’s an experience. One that, when experienced fully, appeals to all of the five senses and not just taste. Take texture, for example. You know those satisfying food moments when a creamy soup warms your tongue or the crunch of a chip feels so right? Yeah, that’s what I’m talking about. More specifically, you know those weird taste preferences you have but can’t quite explain why? For me, food just seems to taste better folded. Here are my top six favorite folded dishes.
1. Sandwiches
When making this sandwich, never cut the bread at the fold (where it would be two separate halves). See that corner of the folded sandwich were the bread wraps around the meat? Yeah, that bite is called Heaven.
2. Pizza
If you haven’t been folding your pizza since you were like, five, then you missed out on some serious foldy goodness. Even better than simply folding your pizza: rolling it like a towel and then stuffing your mouth with a huge bite. Did I say the sandwich was Heaven? Nah. Nothing gets better than a rolled up pizza.
3. Taco/burrito/quesadilla
Level with me here. It seems obvious that a taco, burrito, or quesadilla is a folded item (seeing as you have to fold the tortilla over the food inside to keep it there), but these foods are the better versions of their unfolded counterparts: tostadas and burrito bowls.
4. Pancakes/crepes/waffles
Hello, breakfast sandwich. Fold a waffle or pancake with some fruit inside, or for optimal folding goodness (and my favorite choice), fold the thin layers of a crepe with some Nutella.
5. Noodles
This one might seem less obvious if you don’t pay attention to the texture differences between “folded” noodles like penne, shell, and macaroni versus flat noodles like linguini or bow-tie, but I’m telling you: folded pasta is the best pasta.
6. Chips
Look at these chips. They are so crunch-worthy. What’s better than crunching one chip? Crunching two. Or one that is folded.
