5 Snacks You Can Fit in Your Cowboy Boots for Game Day

This article is written by a student writer from the Spoon University at TCU chapter.

Game day. The ultimate cheat day for all college students. A time when it’s okay to pound beers, hot dogs, and other tailgating goodies almost every weekend of the fall.

But what happens when you get inside the game and your stomach starts to growl? Don’t worry TCU students, your cowboy boots are massive and can fit tons of snacks to help get you through any game. Here are some snacks that will get you through each game, win or lose.

1. Cereal from the dining hall

Sometimes mornings on a game day are too much to handle. It’s hard to find time for breakfast when you start tailgating at 8am. However, drinking on an empty stomach is not the greatest idea, so toss some cereal in a plastic bag and throw them into your boots so you’re ready to go. Just be carful not to crush all of your goodies

2. Trail mix

Whether you prefer a homemade version or something packaged, trail mix is a great filler for the end of the second quarter for when all you can think about is food.

3. KIND Bars

Super cheap and healthy, KIND Bars are a great way to bring back your blood sugar levels to cheer for our Frogs. Not sure which bar to bring? Check out a ranking of the best KIND bars here. We are also lucky enough to have our own KIND rep on campus, Petra Rack. Feel free to look to her for all of your KIND Bar questions

4. Almonds

Almonds are a great source of protein and energy that can help keep you on your feet, ready for every play. If you’re feeling adventurous, try making these pumpkin spiced roasted almonds for game day. They are the perfect snack with fall right around the corner.

5. Cash

Desperate times call for desperate measures. Sometimes things go wrong and we jump up and down too much and our snacks fall out or get crushed. For these life-threatening times, it’s always good to have a back up. Just make sure you don’t miss any important plays while waiting in line for a doughnut.

Now there’s no excuse to leave at half-time to go to the BLUU or order Toppers and watch the rest of the game on your couch. We need to show as much love as we can to our Frogs and cheer them to the win.
