Your Food Guide To The Best Restaurants in Toronto

This article is written by a student writer from the Spoon University at Syracuse chapter.

After spending a few days in Toronto, I realized that Toronto is not only famous for the CN Tower or the beautiful views and sightseeing, but it’s also full of fantastic restaurants.  After trying different restaurants, I have come up with a food guide of the best restaurants for your future trip to Toronto. I promise if you go to every restaurant on this list, your food on the trip will be 100% delicious.

1. La Carnita

With a few locations around the city, La Carnita is a Mexican-based restaurant that will surprise you on how delicious their tacos are. Although they have a different taste than original Mexican food, their tacos will not disappoint. My personal favorite was the Mexican Chorizo tacos with a delicious margarita.

2. The Loose Moose

After visiting the CN tower and wandering around the city, I came across with The Loose Moose. This bar is perfect to take a break from touring and enjoy a delicious burger or sandwich with a cold Canadian beer.

My recommendation is to try the mac and grilled cheese with fries. Nothing better than a grilled cheese with your favorite pasta and a good beer.

3. Shark Club Sports Bar & Grill

Is your favorite sports team playing during your visit to Toronto? Shark Club is the perfect place to watch it while you enjoy their delicious wings in one of the most exciting sports bar atmospheres. Aside from the food, Shark Club has a variety of different drinks for you to enjoy while watching your favorite team play. My personal favorite is the Bulldog.

4. Tratorria Nervosa

Located in Yorkville, Tratorria Nervosa is the perfect place to go if you are craving pasta. Although it might be a little bit out of your college student budget, the food will be 100% worth it. To make your meal even better, treat yourself and order one of their many wine options, I promise you will fall in love with the food in this place.

5. Saint Lawrence Market

Although this is not a restaurant, it has plenty of them on the inside. The market is full of small food stands with a variety of different food. Aside from the stands, there are also shops where you can buy the uncooked food and take it with you to make it at home or wherever you are staying.

If you go to Saint Lawrence Market, eating at Crepe It Up is a most. I recommend you try the chicken with broccoli and cheese crepe; you are going to be amazed by how good it is.

6. The Beer Hall

After touring the famous Historic Distillery District, you are going to want to go to the Beer Hall and try a unique and delicious cold one from their brewery. If you order the Beer Flights, you get the opportunity to try four of their different beers listed on the menu. My personal favorite is the Original Organic Lager.

7. Toro Wine Bar & Tapas

Last but not least in our guide, Toro Wine Bar & Tapas is the perfect place to go if you are craving Spanish food and want to share different tapas with your family and friends. I would recommend for you to try their Chorizo, Patatas Bravas, and Shrimp: the perfect tapas combination to satisfy and make your tummy happy.

Feeling hungry now? Don’t forget to take your food guide with you on your future visit to Toronto and try every restaurant on it. Pack your backs everyone… its time to try new food!

I am a Panamanian attending Syracuse University majoring in Communication and Rhetorical Studies. When I'm not studying or writing articles, I'm usually hanging out with my friends or trying new restaurants.
