The Starbucks Fall Drink Better Than The Pumpkin Spice Latte

This article is written by a student writer from the Spoon University at Syracuse chapter.

The Tasty Fall Alternative

Every fall, we’re presented with the existential dilemma– to be or not to be a basic bitch. As pumpkin spice cookies, cake pops, and of course lattes begin to roll off the shelves at Starbucks, the internal conflict begins. Of course you want to celebrate fall with all its best flavors, but you also want to break from the status quo.

Now you’re probably wondering, how do I branch out but still stay fall spirited? In comes Starbucks’s most underrated fall drink– the Caramel Apple Spice. A cinnamon and caramel delight that fills all your crunchy leaf and cozy sweater desires.

The Caramel Apple Spice starts with freshly pressed steamed apple juice. Not only is this the perfect childhood throw back, but fall is apple season, so you’re getting the freshest picks. Cinnamon syrup is thrown into the mix, so like the PSL you’re getting that perfect combination of sweets and spices. All of this is topped off with whipped cream and a caramel drizzle.

Health Benefits

Not only is this drink perfect for fall, but if you’re like me and suffer from Irritable Bowel Syndrome or are lactose intolerant, this drink allows you to enjoy fall without wrecking your stomach (so long as you skip the whipped cream). With no caffeine and much lower counts of dairy, this drink is sure to keep you and your stomach satisfied.

Let’s not forget, the calorie count of a Caramel Apple Spice and Pumpkin Spice Latte are different (without whipped cream). Caramel Apple Spice wins for the healthier option. You know what they say… an apple a day keeps the doctor away.

So, wrap your chunky scarves and pull up those knee-high boots and march down to Starbucks to get fall festive without being a basic PSL kinda gal.
