LA’s Best Outdoor Happy Hour Spots

This article is written by a student writer from the Spoon University at Syracuse chapter.

Hot summer days in LA are meant to be spent outside paired with an alcoholic beverage and lots of tasty bites. Stop by these bars this summer (honestly, they’re beautiful all year round) to unwind, enjoy the company of your frands, and take in the beautiful LA surroundings.

Most importantly: they’ll keep your wallet happy. Happy hour is a broke college kid’s saving grace. Especially in LA.

Mr. C Beverly Hills

This Beverly Hills hotel offers some of the best deals in the area and their happy hour is open to both hotel guests and the LA public. Here’s the deal: Monday-Friday from 5-7 pm, Mr. C offers $5 select beers, $8 house wine and $8 well cocktails to go with any one (or more) of their Italian-style apps.

Home Restaurant

If you happen to be in, or near, Los Feliz, Home Restaurant is the place to be for happy hour. They have a beautiful patio that you can enjoy from Monday to Friday without breaking the bank. $3.50 domestic beers, $5 house wine and wells, and tons of appetizer specials, ’cause there’s no place like home (and home is cheap.)

Cliff’s Edge

Ugh, Cliff’s Edge makes you feel like you’re hangin’ out in your childhood treehouse… except with lots of alcohol. Every hour is happy hour here with a $7 cocktail chosen daily and $3 beer.

Oh, and if this happens to be some sort of romantic get-together, Cliff’s Edge has got you covered with the aphrodisiac: $1 oysters on Thursday from 6-7 pm.

Las Perlas

Lookin’ for a cheap, kickass marg? Hit up this patio for $5 margaritas, palms and tequila shots. Ummm, yes please. $3 Tecate, too, for the beer lovers out there.

Suite 700 at The Shangri-La Hotel

You really can’t beat the killer view from Suite 700 while you’re casually chillin’ on Ocean Avenue (we miss you, Yellowcard). $5 beers, $7 well drinks, half-priced glasses of wine, and $5 small plates make this place the most epic happy hour on the west side.

Madera Kitchen & Bar

If you’re spending the afternoon in Hollywood, hang out on Madera Kitchen’s patio for some sweet happy hour deals. They’ve got $4 drafts, $2-off bottles, $4 barrel wine, $7 cocktails, and $7 bites every Monday through Friday from 5:30-8 pm. Can’t beat it.

Check out that fiiiire pit. The place to kick it for happy hour in the valley is Public School 818. On Monday to Friday from 4-6:30 pm they have some bomb food specials including $4 Parmesan truffle fries, $5 chicken sausages, and $7 ahi tuna tacos.

If you’re just stopping by for a drink after work, the specials go until 7 pm. Woooop. Get yourself some $4 and $5 beers, $5 wells, $10 house wine carafes and $15 Dean’s List wine carafes.

Eveleigh

This rustic spot has one of the best outdoor patios in LA. Daily from 5-7 pm, enjoy Eveleigh’s apertivo hour for food and sherry pairings, and (more importantly) low-ABV cocktails.

On Tuesdays until 7 pm, Eveleigh also offers $5 Ti-punch cocktails, which are a mixture of three varieties of rum with lime and sugar cane. If you want to try all three varieties of rum, they offer a $10 flight, too. Order, drink, stay a while.

This beer garden is not as big as the one in Germany, but it sure is cheaper. Daily from 4-7 pm grab a couple of their $1-off beers on tap, $1-off appetizers, $5 sausages, and $6 specialty cocktails. Prost!
