Greenville Avenue: One of Dallas’s trendiest and most popular streets. The area is lined with great restaurants and crafty shops, and the walkways lend themselves to long after-dinner strolls or morning walks on your way to run an errand. Right when you think you’ve seen it all, perhaps you have yet to check out these hidden gems. Don’t miss these five places on your next Greenville Avenue run!
JOY Macaroons
The first stop on our Greenville Avenue journey is JOY Macaroons; an extremely delicious macaroon shop in the heart of the street. I have to preface that there is nothing I love more than macaroons, so obviously this made for a very exciting visit to me. The inside of the store, decorated very whimsically, lends itself nicely to its large macaroon display. Inside you can find flavors such as cookie dough, lavender, caramel, raspberry, and many others. If you are feeling extra exciting that day, try one of their macaroon ice cream sandwiches — they are to die for.
The Merchant
If you’re looking for a great place to buy your next gift — whether that be for the holidays, a birthday, anniversary, or any other occasion, this is the place for you. Not only can you shop, but you can order a coffee and a croissant and sit at the front of the store and work! I love coming to this coffee shop to study, as it is quiet and there are plenty of outlets and seating. Not to mention, their selection of warm drinks is extensive, ranging from warm ciders to lattes. At the Merchant, there’s something for everyone.
Village Baking Co.
I love Europe and I love their baked goods. Village Baking Co. is by far the most authentic European-style bakery that I have found in Dallas. Their wide range of pastries mimic those found on the streets of Paris, and their freshly made bread retains its shape and delicate layers with each bite. I cannot say enough great things about the many treats found within these doors. Be sure to grab a pastry and coffee and kick your feet up at one of their many indoor or outdoor tables next time you find yourself nearby!
Halcyon
This ultimate sometimes coffee shop/ sometimes restaurant lends itself perfectly for a study snack or a late night trip…or both! For the afternoon, I recommend one of their coffees (vanilla latte pictured above) paired with their hummus plate. In the evenings, they open their bar and their dessert menu! I had the make your own s’mores — a perfect idea for a date night, or just a night out with friends. Either way, you will for sure leave with a smile on your face from their vibrant atmosphere and extensive food, wine, and dessert list. Not to mention — there are many tables to study at!
While there are many great places scattered throughout Greenville Avenue, this list highlights my top hidden gem places that are worth checking out! No matter what you are in the mood for, Greenville Avenue has you covered. Try something new next time you go out, and who knows, maybe it’ll turn into the best place you’ve tried yet!
