The Met’s Enchanting Date Night: A Romantic Journey With Art & Culture

This article is written by a student writer from the Spoon University at Rutgers chapter.

Immerse yourselves in the world of art and history as you stroll hand in hand through the hallowed halls of The Metropolitan Museum of Art. Date Night at the Met curates a romantic journey and offers a perfect blend of sophistication and charm, creating cherished moments amidst masterpieces.

Go any Friday or Saturday night with someone special and get the chance to listen to live music while having a special deal on the Met’s specialty cocktail: “My Main Squeeze.” On your way to the American Wing Cafe and the Petrie Court Cafe, you will, of course, have the chance to walk through the other exhibitions to view the art the museum has collected, some dating back to be more than 5,000 years old.

When my group got to the cafe, there was a small wait, but it was in eyesight with the three violinists, making the wait worth it. It was a nice, relaxing wait, as we were able to listen to live music while we waited. Once our table was ready, we ordered the two for $17 “My Main Squeeze” drinks and sat down to enjoy the music.

Make sure you go out to dinner before going to the Met, as we did, or order some of the food in the cafe during Date Night because the drinks were very strong that night. The “My Main Squeeze” tasted like a margarita, and even though the price seemed expensive, it tasted worth the amount spent on each cup.

What makes this date night feel special while being an easy trip to make is the fact that it’s just a short walk to the train station on Rutgers’ College Avenue campus, and then you’re in the city at the Met. So take out a few friends or your partner and provide them with an unforgettable evening filled with art, culture, and delightful conversations. The convenience of the nearby train station not only makes this outing accessible but also adds an element of adventure to the experience. As you embark on the short journey, the anticipation builds, knowing that you are about to immerse yourself in the rich offerings of the Met.

This date night seamlessly combines the simplicity of a local adventure with the sophistication of a world-class cultural destination, making it an enchanting and accessible escape for you and your companions.
