Get Ready for Thanksgiving Dinner at Purdue’s Dining Courts

This article is written by a student writer from the Spoon University at Purdue chapter.

Now that Thanksgiving break is around the corner, many Boilermakers are looking forward to one particular event happening on campus: Thanksgiving dinner. If you’re not going home for Thanksgiving break, then make sure to read the article in its entirety, because you’re going to want to stuff yourself like a turkey (ha-ha).

All of the Purdue dining courts will be throwing a Thanksgiving-style dinner with all sorts of fall decorations and shenanigans for your pleasure. Below is every dining court ranked based on what kind of eating style you are.

Carnivore Central: Wiley

If you’re looking to stuff yourself with meaty goodness before hibernating for the next 24 hours, then Wiley’s the place to go.

Appetizer: Cranberry Waldorf Nut Salad, Corn, Green Beans, Sweet Yeasty Rolls, Whole Grain Dinner Rolls

Main Dish: Roasted Turkey, Twice Smoked Ham, Whipped Potatoes, Flame Roasted Sweet Potatoes, Chicken Stuffing

Dessert: Pumpkin Pie, Dutch Apple Pie, Apple Cranberry Crisp, Pecan Praline Bar, Pumpkin Pie Ice Cream, Cinnamon Ice Cream, Chocolate Ice Cream, Vanilla Ice Cream, Apple Cider

Wiley is also one of the busiest dining courts on campus and it’s only open from 5 to 9pm. Be sure to get there at least a half hour early to line up.

Veggies 4 Lyfe: Windsor

Windsor is known to have a variety of foods fit for different dietary needs. If you’re vegetarian or are just all about that #veggielyfe, Windsor’s got your back.

International Diva: Ford

Ford is one of my favorite dining courts because it features a lot of international food. This dining court is open from 5-8pm, so make sure you get in line early.

Appetizer: Green Beans, Corn, Cranberry-Bleu Cheese Salad, Roasted Garlic Eggplant Spread, Mushroom Rosemary Spread, Sweet Yeasty Rolls, Whole Grain Dinner Rolls

Timeless Classics: Earhart

Come to Earhart if you just want only the traditional Thanksgiving dinner foods around you. Simple people with simple requests. Open 5 to 9pm.

Dessert: Apple Cider, Kings Cheesecake with Fudge, Cranberry Orange Compote, Pumpkin Pie, Apple Pie, Chunky Pecan Pie Bar, Assorted Fruits, Chocolate Cherry Mousse Crepe Filling

Peaceful Eats: Hillenbrand

If you want to enjoy a hassle-free friendsgiving dinner, there’s no other place than Hillenbrand. Just remember to grab a table big enough for your squad, and don’t forget to greet all the people making this happen. Now that we’ve established some guidelines, let’s dig in.

Appetizer: Green Beans, Corn, Hawaiian Dinner Roll, Whole Grain Roll, Italian Mixed Green Salad, Cranberry Waldorf Nut Salad

Main Dish: Roast Turkey, Chicken Stuffing, Whipped Potatoes, Whipped Sweet Potatoes, Jellied Cranberry Sauce, Spiced Whole Berry Sauce, Cranberry Orange Relish, Tortellini Alfredo

Dessert: Pecan Pie Squares, Apple Pie

Remember, everyone going has one goal in common: eating and enjoying a well-rounded Thanksgiving meal. So be courteous and don’t cut the line, don’t hog all the food, and only grab what you’re going to eat.

**SpoonTip: Make sure to be a little bit earlier than usual, because the lines will be long!

If for whatever reason you don’t want to have a Thanksgiving dinner at the dining courts, have your own friendsgiving, cook up a vegetarian Thanksgiving, concoct a boozy Thanksgiving sangria, make yourself a Thanksgiving sandwich, or get your friends and make amazing turkey meatballs.

Whatever you do this Thursday, make sure to have fun, stay safe, and be happy. Good luck Boilermakers, the power rests in your hands. Happy early Thanksgiving!
