The Best Places to Eat in Indianapolis for Any Occasion

This article is written by a student writer from the Spoon University at Purdue chapter.

There are too many options in big cities when deciding where to eat, and whether you’ve lived in Indianapolis your entire life or are just visiting, you can easily get lost in it all. Here are some no-fail options on places to eat in Indianapolis for any occasion that can hopefully make your decision-making a little easier.

Going out for brunch: Cafe Patachou

Price: $$

If you’ve scrolled through Instagram or flipped through magazines and have seen the cute picture-worthy breakfast or lunch places, then you’ll know how this cafe works. Come in for a late breakfast for their custom-made omelets and to-die-for cinnamon toast, or choose from their wide selection of salads or soups for lunch. All fresh and completely delicious.

Craving pizza: Bazbeaux

Price: $$

Don’t think this pizza is just basic pepperoni and sausage — this Indy original pizzeria serves fresh, delicious pizza with a local-favorite kind of taste. Choose from 25 premium pizza choices or customize your own.

Looking for Mexican: Nada

Price: $$

Think of your favorite local Mexican restaurant times 10. Located in the heart of Indy, this place serves some pretty mean guacamole and any topping on a taco you can imagine (let’s just say fried egg on a soft taco is actually really good).

Going on a date: Harry & Izzys

Price: $$$

Going to this restaurant is the perfect excuse to dress up. From perfectly-seasoned French fries to the best steak you’ll ever have, their menu has a wide variety of food options. Top it off with a fancy glass of wine, with over 100 stunning selections to choose from.

Out with friends: Scotty’s Brewhouse

Price: $$

If you’re looking for a fun place to grab dinner on a Saturday night, this is it. Grab a table inside or hang outside on their huge outdoor patio and fire pit area, and catch up with friends or have a drink after a long day.

When the big game is on: Kilroy’s Bar N’ Grill

Price: $$

This bar does it big when it comes to sports. Located down the street from Bankers Life Fieldhouse, this sports bar gets pretty packed before Pacers games and pretty rowdy during big sporting events. Go with a group of friends for some good ol’ bar food and drinks and let your inner sports-loving self go (yelling completely acceptable).

Something vegetarian: Three Carrots

Price: $

Located inside the Indy City Market, this place is all about serving vegetarian food, and we’re not just talking salad. Choose from their wide variety of gyros, soups, and wraps, made with all-fresh ingredients. Finish the meal with one of their delicious homemade desserts (we can pretend it’s healthy, right?).

It’s hard to narrow down all of the delicious options on where to eat, but Indianapolis has some pretty cool places if you do some research. Be adventurous and try something new, there’s more to this city than what you may think.
