Which Froyo Flavor Tastes as Advertised?

This article is written by a student writer from the Spoon University at PSU chapter.

I think we all know that in these modern times, you never really know what you’re paying for, especially when it comes to food. The advertisements and overly tantalizing titles of items sometimes lead you to believe you will get something more spectacular than what you end up with.

I think the disappointment we feel after choosing a deceptive food is especially heart-wrenching after having sat there debating the choice for five minutes, like when you go into a frozen yogurt shop and have an array of flavors available to you but you don’t know which one to pick.

Well, friends, let me help you out. I recently went into Kiwi Yogurt downtown to test these four random ice cream flavors: red velvet cake, funfetti cupcake, sea salt caramel pretzel and iced coffee.

Now, I’m generally a fan of all things red velvet; it’s a weakness of mine. I had high hopes for this flavor and was not disappointed. It tastes just like red velvet cake–you can’t describe the flavor and you’re not sure if you like it but you keep eating it. I think the yogurt is better than actual cake because  you get all of the moisture that the cake lacks in the yogurt.

The second flavor I chose was funfetti cupcake. It tasted like sugar cookie batter and was as sweet as icing. This flavor went ridiculously well with red velvet but I could only handle so many spoonfuls before going into a sugar coma.

After recovering from my brain freeze, I tried the sea salt caramel pretzel. It was fine in taste but a tad bit of a let down because I was expecting something sweeter. I guess that’s why ‘sea salt’ comes first in the title. My photographer enjoyed this flavor the most.

Finally, the iced coffee flavor. This was very intense; it woke me right up. It tastes exactly like coffee, so if you’re someone who enjoys their coffee without anything in it (not me), then this flavor is for you! However, it’s not very good with any other flavor.

So, from what I’ve gathered, these flavors are true to their names. Some are definitely closer to the stereotypical flavor than others, but they’re all very good, nonetheless. Since frozen yogurt is pretty cheap and isn’t as unhealthy as ice cream, go indulge in some froyo, and do some taste-testing of your own!
