As you reach for your 3rd bottle of water on a Saturday morning, its safe to say you’re craving just about anything you can douse in ketchup, hot sauce, or syrup. As you quickly log onto the Dunkin Cam only to find a line mile long you may feel defeated BUT look no further, cause TRUST me there’s a whooooole lot more than Raymond Dining Hall that can rid you of that hangover. Nothing can cure that pounding tequila and bud light headache like a good hearty breakfast.
Here are 5 of the best breakfast/brunch places in Providence, RI so grab the girls and recap the night.
1. Classic Café
Located at 865 Westminster St, on Federal Hill, Classic Café is sure to please with their wide variety of breakfast favorites. This traditional American Diner feel will make you feel right at home, complete with free refills on coffee (hot and iced… major key). From omelets to French Toast to grilled cheese and chicken fingers there is something for everyone on the menu. Make sure to try their in house specialty: potato cakes… trust me you won’t regret it.
2. Bagel Express
I’m a Jersey girl, so there is nothing I love more than a good bagel. Crispy and crunchy on the outside, soft and chewy on the inside. This is the closest thing you’ll find to an NJ bagel in RI, and did I mention they have pork roll…? Offering a wide variety of hot bagels, breakfast sandwiches, and deli sandwiches this is a great place to come still in your sweats. It’s the perfect place for a quick breakfast or to take back to your dorm and head back to bed. Your trip is not complete without “THE TANK”, an iced coffee so big it might be mistaken for a dorm sized garbage can; but trust me you’ll be addicted before you know it.
3. Three Sisters
Originally known for there incredible homemade ice cream (which you might have to get a scoop or 2 of before you leave) Three Sisters is an incredible find for a cute and unique brunch experience. With a cozy vibe and amazingly savory flavor Three Sisters is sure to please whether you’re in the mood for breakfast, lunch, a milkshake or both. I must say the home fries are cooked to perfection with an incredible balance of both crunchy and soft. Make sure to give their locally roasted coffee a try as well as their delicious house made chai tea.
4. Hudson Street Deli
Bacon, Egg, Cheese, and Avocado on a plain bagel? SIGN UP ME PLEASE. This little hole in the wall will quickly become your go-to favorite (Confession: I’ve been twice this past weekend). The perfect combination of extra crispy bacon, fried egg, gooey American cheese, and smashed avocado severed hot on a fresh bagel will be sure to do the trick; I thoroughly enjoy pairing it with a yellow Gatorade. Because the place is small I highly recommend calling ahead and placing an order over the phone.
5. Wayland Square Diner
This cozy little diner with an old time luncheonette feel will make you feel right at home. Serving everything from pancakes stacked high to omelets cooked to perfection, you’ll feel like you just walked downstairs to a hot breakfast cooked by your mom. Almost all dishes are under $10 so you won’t feel as bad when you check your bank statement later that day.
