This Futuristic Diet Requires Drinking Every Meal Through a Straw

This article is written by a student writer from the Spoon University at PITT chapter.

Over the past few years, you have heard a never-ending list of new diets and ways of eating.

There’s the Paleo diet, where you only eat what was eaten by early humans — so no dairy or grain products and especially no processed food. Then there is the gluten-free diet, meant for people who have Celiac disease or are allergic to gluten, but popularized by celebrities. There is even a diet where you only have juice to clear your body from toxins.

However, with all of these diets, there are definite cons eventually leading to not receiving enough nutrition from what we eat.

What if I told you that there was a diet that fixes that, and everything else? It would solve all of your bodily problems, help you lose weight, and give you 100% of the nutrients you need — all while eating whatever you want. Sounds like a gimmick, right? I thought so, too, but this is the real deal.

It’s called the Blended Diet. The Blended Diet is exactly how it sounds: you blend your food before you eat it. The Worthingham Theodore Facility (WTF), a research facility at the University of Florida – Orlando (UFO), recently discovered the health benefits from blending your food.

For the past year, scientists at WTF conducted intensive research on the human body and its absorption of nutrients, focusing on micro-nutrients, which are additional nutrients within all foods that are rarely absorbed if foods are cooked or eaten alone. UFO’s research explored different ways your body could absorb these nutrients.

The scientists tried consuming foods in a certain order and only cooking foods in coconut oil. Finally, they discovered that by blending your food, micro-nutrients are released and using a blender is one of the only ways to get 100% of the nutrition out of everything you eat. This may seem gross, but it’s taking your nutrition to the next level and making your body happier and healthier.

This information was paired with the Dietetics department at UFO, and the Blender Diet was born. Essentially, you can eat whatever you want as long as you blend it, which makes it the most nutritious way to absorb nutrients.

Here is a sample day of eating on the Blender Diet that was created by registered dietitians. You have a solid amount of grains, protein, vegetables, and a liquid so it can all blend nicely.

What do you think? Would you try it? By the way… it’s April Fools’ Day.

Denise Chow is lover of french fries and oreos, but not together. Maybe, but she hasn't tried it yet.
