If you’re a passionate foodie like me, planning your next meal can be a long process. After all, a meal is an experience. But, looking for good food with the best service in an ideal location with the right atmosphere can be tiring. Not every place we eat at meets these expectations every time, but the best places do.
Keeping all of this in mind when going out with friends around campus can be tricky. And while there are plenty of great places to eat in Malibu, there are other nearby eateries worth checking out. I highlight some of the best (and my favorite) places to eat up Malibu Canyon.
Sushi Nishi
Great specialty rolls and lunch combinations make this spot one of my favorite go-to places for sushi, and it’s conveniently located by the Lost Hills freeway exit.

Erewhon Market
If you’ve ever felt caught up in the beauty of a grocery store (or even if just hearing that idea seems crazy), prepare to be blown away by Erewhon Market. It is every food lover’s paradise, times 100. This market has its own tonic bar serving fresh juices and smoothies, a hot food bar, deli station, plus other extensive food selections.

Saddle Peak Lodge
Who knew we had a Michelin star rated restaurant right in our own neighborhood of the Santa Monica Mountains? With amazing food and a cozy atmosphere, your fine dining experience will be memorable at the least. Celebrate a magical evening or enjoy a lovely Sunday brunch here at Saddle Peak, located off of Piuma Rd.

Blu Jam Café
Just off the Muholland Dr/Valley Circle exit of the 101, this popular neighborhood brunch spot serves all day breakfast. Their signature Crunchy French Toast (my personal favorite) is highly recommended.

King’s Fish House
Stop by King’s for some fresh seafood and sushi. It’s perfect for lunch out on the patio and located in The Commons shopping plaza.
