Craft ciders have become all the rage here in Oregon — and rightfully so. However, I have one major problem with them: they’re expensive. When I heard that 16 Tons was having a free 2 Towns Cider tasting, I just about died from excitement. Naturally, I made all my friends go with me so we could try some original and seasonal drinks.
Before I get into some serious cider talk and give you the low down on the different flavors, I learned some interesting facts about 2 Towns. Not only is it made in Corvallis (we all love supporting local businesses), but it also has no added sugar or anything artificial for that matter. A normal person might not get as excited about that, but say that to a Eugenian and watch them do a little hippie dance around the bar.

Ok, let’s get to the important stuff. Here are the ciders I tried and what I thought about each one:
The Bright Cider – 6% ABV
This cider is clean and crisp. It’s a good happy medium. Not too sweet, but not too tart with fresh fruit flavors. Don’t get me wrong, I love it, but it’s a little safe for my liking. If you’re trying cider for the first time, then this is a great one to start with.
The Bad Apple – 10.5% ABV
This is usually my go to because hello, look at the ABV. But I also love how dry it tastes. Normally, I don’t pick up any vanilla or oak from this cider (probably because I’m already intoxicated when I’m drinking it). In my sober state, I could taste honey and vanilla with notes of wood.
Cherried Away – 6% ABV
I expected this cider to taste like pure cherries, but it was a perfect blend of cherry and apple. Honestly, I don’t think I could drink a whole bottle of this. It was a little tart with strong flavors of hibiscus blossoms and would be perfect to split with a friend or that special someone.
Made Marion – 6% ABV
Yum, Yum, Yum! Can anyone say marion berry pie in a bottle? Need I say more? This cider might even be better than dessert.

These are just a few of the many kinds of 2 Towns’ ciders. Although, they are a little pricier for our college budgets, remember that it is hard to go wrong with any of their flavors!
