What Are You Doing on Valentine’s Day?

This article is written by a student writer from the Spoon University at NYU chapter.

As Walgreens decorates its stores with heart-shaped balloons and love-themed commercials play repeatedly on our TV screens, everyone is asking their friends what they are doing for Valentine’s Day. Some people celebrate this day with their loved ones, friends or alcohol, and others just hate the holiday all together. Find out about what these NYU students are doing this year:

“Well my boyfriend and I are going to Philadelphia. Where or what we’ll eat I don’t know yet. I guess it’s a surprise for me.”

“What kind of cuisine do you think he will surprise you with?”

“Probably Italian, somewhere nice with a romantic ambience. And wine.”

“That’s cute.”

“Yea, I’m sort of that romantic Valentine’s Day cliché.”

“Well, I don’t have a date for Valentine’s Day, but if I did, I’d get her a box of her favorite milk or dark chocolates, a bouquet of fresh flowers, and have a nice three-course dinner at a rooftop lounge like Upstairs at the Kimberly Hotel.”

“What would you guys order?”

“If I went there, looking at the menu I’d probably start off with their stuffed mushrooms with goat cheese and pesto, followed by a main course of braised short rib and Parmesan polenta accompanied by a nice glass of pinot noir. Top it off with a chocolatey dessert like their red velvet cake.”

“You really have your Valentine’s Day all planned out, don’t you?”

“And a dram of Glenlivet 15 scotch.”
