The Best NYC Food Events You Need to Hit in October

This article is written by a student writer from the Spoon University at NYU chapter.

The fall is my favorite time of year. The leaves, the clothing, the cooler weather, all of the food events ever. The lower temperatures and bundled-up bodies seem to encourage obscene consumption levels of all-things pumpkin, apple, and cider – and I’m almost positive I contribute to more than 60% of those levels (after all, it is my birthday season.)

So fall is awesome, but fall in NYC is the best. Anyone you ask will be attending a different food-related event, be it a festival, an annual conference, a one-night-only restaurant event, or a weeklong list of activities revolving around all things culinary. Don’t know where to begin to look, or what to even search for in that Google bar? Look no further, because your October round up is all right here.

Sunday, October 1st:

Sushirrito’s One Year Anniversary Party

What: Sushirrito wants to celebrate their one year anniversary with YOU by giving out free food, delicious drinks, and more sushi than you can imagine. Plus, for the whole month of October, $1 from every purchase of the Sumo Crunch roll will go to City Harvest to Help hungry New Yorkers in need.

Where & When: 12 West 23rd Street, from 12pm – 4pm.

New York Vegan Food & Drink Festival

What: The event where all pizza is dollar pizza! This $1/slice event supports both City Harvest and The Sylvia Center, and features many spots that don’t offer pizza by the slice otherwise.

Where & When: St. Anthony’s Church, 155 Sullivan St from 6pm until pizza runs out!

Thursday, October 12th through Sunday, October 15th:

New York Wine and Food Festival

Friday, October 13th to Sunday, October 15th:

New York Coffee Festival

What: A weekend-long celebration of coffee: there will be tastings, demonstrations, art, and lots of caffeinated jitters. NYC only thrives as quickly as it does because of coffee, so come bow down to it.

Where & When: Depends on the event. Tickets are available through their website.

The Whole Month:

And close out the month by eating more candy than you know what to do with. It’s the only month where you can overdose on pumpkin spice, cider donuts, and chocolate from your freaky neighbors. Go ahead, we won’t tell.
