Students’ Favorite Thanksgiving Side Dishes

This article is written by a student writer from the Spoon University at NYU chapter.

The fun of Thanksgiving dinners is often in the side dishes. Turkey is always a must, but every family does their side dishes a little differently. Whether it is the cranberry sauce, peas and carrots or stuffing, each family adds their own twist to the classics. Since Thanksgiving break is around the corner, we went around campus and asked what side dishes are people most looking forward to in their Thanksgiving meal.

“I’m foreign, so I don’t do Thanksgiving.”

So if you were to do a Thanksgiving dinner, what would you want as a side dish?

“Probably baked potato with bacon bits and sour cream.”

“Yams. With marshmallows melted on top.”

Is that a special family recipe?

“Yes, my mom makes the mashed sweet potato first. Then, she bakes it with marshmallow on top. It may not be the healthiest food in the world, but it is so good.”
