Since we rely so heavily on social media, it makes sense that we typically scour our instagram feeds for #foodporn and ideas of where to eat out. But we also follow the Victoria’s Secret Angels, bikini body guides, and @bodygoals. Following these models reflects negatively on our own self esteem, and studies have shown that the #foodporn we have all over our feeds are actually leading to weight gain.
Maybe the answer isn’t unfollowing the drool-worthy food Instas or unfollowing the models that make you question your own body (not that you should ever be doing that). Maybe the answer is following Instagram accounts that promote healthy lifestyles, #smoothieporn, and the beauty of eating healthy and well.
