For me, Sundays are always depressing, but with February coming to an end I wanted to recap my favorite Sunday of this month. It’s of course Super Bowl Sunday (Taylor’s Version). My friends and I wanted to celebrate the queen herself in a special way! We felt the only way we could truly honor her was if we made a whole smorgasbord of food that was T Swift-themed. Let’s begin with drinks!
Champagne Problems With Sparkling Cider
As we are under the age of 21, we, unfortunately, could not have real champagne to bring to life Taylor Swift’s song from her Evermore album, “Champagne Problems”. So, instead, we invested in the delicacy that is sparkling cider from Wollaston’s and celebrated with cheers every time Taylor was on the big screen… and maybe if we felt like it … after a Chiefs touchdown. But only because we support Taylor’s boyfriend, not because we enjoy actual football. Boring! Maybe the halftime show should have been the eras tour… Anyways, after drinks, we dipped into our yummy, on-theme appetizers!
Anti-Anne’s-Hero Pretzel Bites
Our first Taylor-themed appetizer was soft pretzels (my personal favorite). The idea with the pretzels was to use a play on words with the brand Auntie Anne’s and Taylor Swift’s famous song Anti-Hero from her Midnights album. Although the actual Auntie Anne’s wasn’t in our budget, we (I) made it our (my) mission to still have soft pretzels. So we sprung for the budget-friendly, more local, pretzel bites from Coolidge Corner Clubhouse in Boston. AND they were the most treasured snack of the night because they were the first to go!
Invisible String Mozzarella Sticks
Next up, we had some good old mozzarella sticks! I know what you must be thinking. What on EARTH does Taylor Swift have to do with mozzarella sticks? Other than the fact that my friends and I love them both wholeheartedly on the inside and out? Nothing really. But pulling apart mozzarella sticks and seeing the string of cheese did remind me of a string and I saw the idea and ran with it. Hence the beautiful photoshop above from yours truly! We connected Taylor Swift’s song “Invisible String” from her Folklore album to mozzarella sticks and didn’t question it for a second.
Now That We Don’t Guac – Chips And Guac
Finally, for our last appetizer, we had chips and guac… because you can’t go wrong with chips and guac at a Super Bowl party. Both can be found at the College Convenience Store on Huntington Ave. This is honestly just a football party or tailgate classic, so I felt like if I left it off our Super Bowl party menu I would be doing a disservice to the “Dads, Brads, and Chads”. That’s the nickname Taylor gave football-obsessed men if you didn’t know. Plus, “Now That We Don’t Guac” made for the perfect parody of Taylor’s 1989 song from the Vault, “Now That We Don’t Talk”. After all those appetizers you would think we didn’t have room for an entree, but don’t you worry, we did!
Peace… Of Pizza
Without further ado… our entree. Pizza! Stolen from the Stetson East dining hall. SHHHH. We didn’t need to make anything complex after our three appetizers, so we stuck to an American classic. But, you better believe it was Taylor Swift themed. I mean how could we not turn it into a pun? Another Folklore song, “Peace”, inspired this food pun. What’s more delicious than a “Peace” of pizza? Uhm… probably our Taylor-themed DESSERT! You thought I would stop there??? We had room in our stomachs for one last “Peace” of the puzzle. Okay, okay, I will stop with the peace pun.
Evers’mores Dip
Last, but certainly not least, our dessert! Another repeat album, we paid homage to Taylor Swift’s song “Evermore” from Evermore through a delicious s’mores dip. It was the final touch that made the night perfect. It was just an added bonus that Taylor’s boyfriend’s team won. We love you, Taylor!
The Aftermath Of It All…
