While the South End neighborhood has fantastic shops, markets, parks, and restaurants, the one thing it lacks is easy accessibility by public transportation. Without a simple, cheap way to travel further into this area than Tremont St., most Northeastern students have not yet taken the opportunity to explore the beautiful community and experience the little gems that can be found around every corner. The local businesses feel the effects of this, as I recently learned from Raffi Festekjian at anoush’ella, a unique Eastern Mediterranean restaurant that he owns with his wife Nina.
The Story
At their recent one-year anniversary gathering, I chatted with Raffi about his keen interest in sharing the anoush’ella experience with Northeastern students. “Anoush’ella” means “May it be sweet,” reflecting Nina and Raffi’s mission of making food with purpose and love that brings joy to their customers. And that it does. With their full, diverse menu, you can explore traditional Armenian Lebanese food in so many different ways.
The Menu
The foundation of the anoush’ella menu is the m’anoush, a thin flatbread made-to-order with fabulous fillings ranging from overnight braised beef or minced lamb to labne (a tangy strained yogurt) or Nutella. They also have a sweet and savory labne bar with a bunch of great topping combinations! Anoush’ella also offers a great brunch menu, complete with multiple shakshukas. Their location accommodates both to-go orders or dining in, plus a bar with a variety of creative cocktails, beer, wine, and house juices.
The Offer
If this sneak peek at their menu didn’t already convince you to stop by, here’s some more motivation: anoush’ella is generously offering a 15% off food discount to all Northeastern students dining in who show their Husky ID upon arrival! This fantastic offer reflects anoush’ella’s excitement about serving Northeastern students and making it a bit easier for them for make the trip (it’s not really even that far!) to experience some real, traditional food. This offer is effective immediately and will continue indefinitely – so we here at Spoon Northeastern encourage you to switch things up and check out anoush’ella!
Anoush’ella also offers catering and is very interested in delivering food for Northeastern club meetings and events. They can also provide catering for events like graduation parties and can host private events at their beautiful location. Contact them via their website if you are interested!
Spoon Northeastern wants to thank anoush’ella for their interest in sharing their labor of love with Northeastern students – we hope you all take advantage of this great opportunity!
