We Tried Instant Fettuccine Alfredo and Here’s What We Thought

This article is written by a student writer from the Spoon University at New Paltz chapter.

One day while shopping at my local supermarket, I came across the most beautiful sight. That’s right, instant fettuccine Alfredo. As the people of my generation do, I pulled out my phone to look up reviews on the product. When no results came up, I decided to take it upon myself to test this baby out and share it with the interweb. You’re welcome, webizens.

The package is labeled gluten free so, hooray! Everyone is invited to the party. Fun fact: the makers of this noodle is Nongshim, which is the same company that makes Shin Ramyun.

The package includes a noodle brick, a packet of vegetable seasoning (which contains mushrooms and peas), and a packet of Alfredo-flavored sauce mix.

As it turns out, the “pasta” is actually rice noodles. Nongshim stays true to their roots.

Final Thoughts

And here are my final thoughts. The instant Fettuccine Alfredo was easy and fast to make (as instant noodles should be). While the recipe calls for 1 1/3 cups of water, the fettuccine isn’t supposed to be soupy, so I would recommend straining the noodles  after cooking. It was delicious and saved me a trip to the dining hall.

Overall, I give this product 4/5 stars. It’s a curious cross between eastern and western cuisine. I would recommend it to anyone who loves fusion food and, especially, to all my gluten-free foodies out there.
