Hawaii is full of good eats, and some of the best can be found on the North Shore. From Instagram perfect acai bowls to fresh caught sea food, you’re sure to find something you’ll love while enjoying the beach a few steps away. Although I’ve only lived here for a short time, these are my favorite places to eat on the North Shore!
Ted’s Bakery
Ted’s is often a staple for those who live close by. They offer breakfast, lunch and dinner, but are best known for their chocolate haupia cream pie and garlic shrimp, which, if I’m being honest, I still haven’t tried. They also have my favorite kind of fries! If you’re in the North Shore, it’s worth it to wake up early and miss the lines!
My Favorites: Pastries and Caramel Iced Coffee with Oat Milk
The Sunrise Shack
Sunrise Shack has two locations, one in Haleiwa, and one in Waikiki. Best known for their bullet coffee and smoothie bowls, the food is just as picture perfect as the cute shack it’s served from. Not only do they serve up Insta-worthy deliciousness, they also offer live music and coordinate beach clean-up days around the island! You can enjoy your delicious breakfast and coffee while supporting a good cause and catching alllll the aloha vibes.
My Favorite: Tropical Bowl and Original Bullet Coffee
Kono’s Restaurant
Kono’s is best known for their breakfast, especially their breakfast bombers, but also serve lunch, dinner, and snacks. They offer a special way to get a life-long discount, though not for the faint hearted. If you get a tattoo of the Kono’s logo- a pig on a surf board- you will receive 25% off for life! If you have the guts to do it, why not try everything on the menu?
My Favorites: Biscuit Slider Trio and Veggie Breakfast Burrito
Coffee Gallery
Although coffee is obviously the main attraction, Coffee Gallery does have a select menu of other items, such as yogurt, granola, acai bowls, and soup. The coffee is so good in fact, that there’s usually line, although it’s worth it when you get to meet new friends while you wait and end up with amazing coffee!
My Favorite: Iced Caramel Latte
North Shore Tacos
Say hello to your new favorite food truck! North Shore Tacos has two locations and one of them is a food truck right across from Shark’s Cove. You can choose your tacos, then head across the street to watch an amazing sunset while you eat.
My Favorites: Surfin’ Tacos and Strawberry Lemonade
Roy’s Beach House
This casual upscale restaurant on the beach provides the perfect ambiance day and night to enjoy a peaceful meal by the water. The menu features Hawaiian inspired Asian cuisine and is abundant with fresh catches from the island. If you like sea food and have some extra cash, Roy’s is the perfect place for a night out.
My Favorites: Crab Cakes & K-Town Style Calamari
Whether you’re a Hawaiian native, new resident, or just visiting, you’re sure to find a new favorite in one of these places. If the views, friendly people, and aloha lifestyle aren’t enough, the food should win you over!
