If you’re reading this, you’re probably guilty of galavanting the halls back in your middle school days in your Limited Too capris singing a glorious song titled “Get Low” from none other than the illustrious Lil Jon & The East Side Boyz.
Well settle yourself down now and think, “what was I singing? is this age appropriate?” No, no it’s not. But did/do we care? No. Why? Because no one knows WTF we’re even singing.
Just to refresh your memory, here’s the video. Now let’s watch and read, kids.
Let’s take a closer look at some of the opening lyrics:
“To the window, to the wall.
Til the sweat drop down my balls.
Til all these bitches crawl.
Til all skeet skeet motherf*ckas, til all skeet skeet goddamn.”
What is “skeet?” And what does it mean to “skeet skeet?”
Lucky for you, I’m shielding you from the embarrassment of googling said word/phrase combination, by dropping some knowledge on ya.
Upon looking up the origin of the word “skeet” or “skeet skeet,” Dictionary.com is the only site other than Urban Dictionary, that offers sound definitions dating back to the late 1800’s and early 1900’s.
According to the site, two definitions of “skeet,” when used as a verb, can be linked to the development of our modern day interpretation. One can be defined as “to spit, to splash, or to spray,” while the other definition is used in conjunction with “to shoot” (think skeet shooting).
Now, I don’t think songs are referring to skeet shooting (unless they’re country, but f*ck that). According to Urban Dictionary, “to skeet” or to “skeet skeet” means to jizz, ejaculate, or cum.
So basically what this means is that ever since you were a youngin’ you’ve been unknowingly preaching about ejaculations and there’s nothing wrong with that.
Get low with your bad self.
