Where to Get Miami’s Top 4 On-Campus Breakfast Sweets

This article is written by a student writer from the Spoon University at Miami (OH) chapter.

We all know eating healthy is awesome. But sometimes you get that craving for sugar that healthy food just can’t fix. To help solve this problem, we made you a list of the best breakfast sweets on Miami’s campus that have absolutely nothing to do with your diet.

1. Cinnamon Crunch Bagels

This melty, cinnamon-y delight from the Haine’s Boulangerie, tucked away in the corner of Armstrong, will guarantee your day is awesome right from the start. It’s a plain bagel covered in cinnamon sugar, toasted to finger-licking perfection, and covered in whatever spread you choose. We suggest pairing it with strawberry cream cheese and your favorite cup of coffee for maximum deliciousness.

2. Chocolate Croissant

What’s better than a fluffy and flakey butter croissant? A fluffy, flakey butter croissant with chocolate from your favorite little Maple Street coffee shop, Patisserie. Nestled snugly in each of these delightful Parisian pillows are two sticks of solid milk chocolate. Pair one with a warm cup of mocha and you’ve got yourself a little adventure straight to chocolate heaven. Pretty nice way to beat the 8 am blues.

3. French Toast Sticks

This isn’t your boring, grown-up French toast with its bland, buttered sadness. No, it’s better. Much better. Your late-night or early-morning Pulley Diner order (it’s open 24 hours to satisfy those college-kid cravings) will consist of a plateful of yummy fried righteousness that is sugary crunch on the outside and golden gluten goodness on the inside. It comes with some delicious maple syrup—to dip or not to dip is up to you. Seriously, this is super French toast.

4. Nutella Waffles/Hotcakes

These gooey delights are the eighth wonder of the world. The waffles are as perfect as any waffle could possibly get, and then they’re drizzled with enough Nutella for a family of four and topped with whipped cream. It’s literal perfection. I’m talking good enough for Instagram.

And if you’re not a waffle fan, the stack of hotcakes they provide for you isn’t only covered in Nutella, but that decadent hazelnut spread is slathered in between each hotcake. It’s making me tear up a little just thinking about it. Be prepared to wait a while for this pile of perfection, though—First Stop, the Maple Street breakfast place these delights are found at, is hopping at all times.
