As you enter a new school year, you’re probably thinking to yourself what your upcoming classes will be like, what new friends you’ll make, whether you’re finally ready to start adulting, how you can contribute to the university and leave your lasting legacy, etc.etc.
Okay, maybe not all of us are ready for those complicated thoughts and responsibilities, but looking for some awesome pastime with some awesome people during the stresses that college can bring. Also, why not throw some food into the mix?
If that’s the case, then Spoon University is the place for you! But if you need more convincing, here’s seven reasons why you should join Spoon UMD:
1. Food

We are the everyday food resource for our generation, be it simple recipes, kitchen hacks or restaurant reviews. Spoon compiles content submitted by students on campuses all over the world and is always looking to grow.
2. We make a difference

Last year, we relieved hundreds of students of boring diner meals by working with UMD dining services to bring monthly Late Night At The Diner events. Just look at those smiles we put on peoples’ faces with gourmet grilled cheese.
3. We’re like a family

We cook together. We eat together. We’re not afraid to push (creative, foodie) boundaries together.

Writer, photographer, videographer, leader, graphic designer and professional foodie, just to name a few. There’s a place for everyone at Spoon University.
5. We hold fun events…

Spoonfest is our biggest event of the year where we invite local restaurants to donate food to give UMD students a taste of Route One. Last year we even had bubble tea from Ten Ren’s Tea Time, which was awesome.

Last semester, Poptarts sent us tons of boxes of their 27 best selling flavors to let UMD students “Pop the Vote” for their ultimate favorite flavor. Read about it here.
