7 Alcoholic Drinks You Didn’t Know Existed

This article is written by a student writer from the Spoon University at Marist chapter.

Do you catch yourself ordering the same drink once you finally get the bartender’s attention, week after week? Here are a few lesser known beverages to help you spice it up when you order your alcoholic drinks next weekend.

1. The Little Beer

This shot gets its name because its contents make it look like—you guessed it—a little beer. Licor 43 mixed with ¼-oz. of cream makes for a dessert shot, which is perfect for the bar-goer with a sweet tooth.

2. Jack the Tipper

This drink is a solid choice for the folks looking to keep it basic at the bars—pumpkin spice style. A yummy mix of pumpkin puree, maple syrup, Jack Daniels Whiskey, cream, and pumpkin pie spice, taking a sip will send you right back into a coffee shop in the middle of October.

3. The Avo-rita

This is a special margarita catered toward all avocado lovers. The avocado-based summery drink might just be the perfect escape from all of the snow on campus that has yet to melt its way into oblivion.

Half an avocado, lime juice, tequila, Cointreau, and cilantro come together to make a vacation-inspired drink. Let’s be real—this might be the closest thing to getting a Chipotle fix while barhopping in Poughkeepsie.

4. Watermelon Mojito Popsicles

Admittedly, this is something you’d have to try at home. Luckily the recipe is an easy one. All you need is some watermelon juice, lime juice, club soda, and rum. Why wait for summer to munch and drink all at the same time?

5. The Banana Coffee Cake Martini

Coffee cake and alcohol? I never thought I could get a little taste of breakfast with my drinks, but this drink sounds like an awesome way to try something new. Rum Chata, Banana Schnapps, and espresso and chocolate cake vodkas make for a potentially delicious dessert martini.

6. The Gold Rush

This one is for the bar-goers enamored with ordering whiskey sours. It’s not often that you find new drinks simple enough to make at home. All you need for this one is bourbon, lemon juice and honey syrup.

7. The Michelada

If you have a strong affinity for spicy foods, this might be the drink for you. Black pepper, Valentina hot sauce, lager, limes, salt and Worcestershire sauce create a hot (but healthy) take on your less-than-typical beverage.
