I’m an Awful Cook, But Even I Can Use Blue Apron

This article is written by a student writer from the Spoon University at LUM chapter.

I am the worst type of chef. When I cook, which is very rare, I can only cook the most basic things (shout-out to grilled cheese and quesadillas). When I heard of Blue Apron, I thought it sounded like an awesome concept (because who doesn’t love food delivered straight to your doorstep?!), but I figured that I was way too terrible of a chef to even attempt it.

Needless to say, I was very wrong. Trust me, if you can only prepare cereal, or even just want to make better dinners, then you’re going to want to try out Blue Apron.

So, how does Blue Apron work?

Each week you choose either the 2-person plan, where you receive 3 meals, or the family plan, where you receive 2 meals that serve 4 people.

Then, you decide which dishes you would like to cook. Don’t worry, they have a large variety of creative and original recipes to choose from. I love stir fry, so I decided to try their Cashew Chicken version.

Once you receive your box, you’re ready to go. Blue Apron includes every single ingredient needed to make your dinner, so there’s no need to worry about a last minute run to the grocery store.

You’re even provided with easy to understand step-by-step instructions. Trust me, if you follow the directions, it’s almost impossible to mess up your meal.

The Result

Before my experience with Blue Apron, the most I would do for dinner was unwrap the packaging of some easy-to-make food so I could throw it in the microwave or oven. With Blue Apron I was chopping veggies, boiling rice, adding sesame oil and soy glaze, and cooking chicken to perfection.

Obviously I am still nowhere near close to being the next Top Chef, but Blue Apron has definitely helped me get one step closer – not to brag, but my Cashew Chicken Stir Fry did taste amazing.

With its variety of creative and original recipes, low price of $8.74 per serving, fresh ingredients, and easy delivery, there’s no doubt in my mind that you’re going to absolutely fall in love with this service.

So, whether you’re a terrible chef like me or you just want to try something new, I definitely recommend giving Blue Apron a try.
