Restaurants Near LSU’s Campus With Happy Hour Deals You Don’t Want To Miss

This article is written by a student writer from the Spoon University at LSU chapter.

Picture this: you’re leaving Himes Hall after failing the test you’ve studied days for. Or the professor who usually ends class 30 minutes early lectures for the full period. Or you drove around the Stadium Lot looking for parking for what felt like forever before you gave up.

You might need a snack. You might need a drink. You might need both.

We have good news. If it’s sometime in the afternoon to early evening (or anytime Tuesday, looking at you, Modesto), we can tell you where to get a quick bite and a cocktail for a good deal next to campus.

Here are three of the best happy hour spots just minutes away from LSU:

Modesto

Technically, taco Tuesday at Modesto isn’t a happy hour – it’s a happy day. All Tuesday, Modesto serves $4 tacos and select drinks for half-off, including its beloved house margarita for $5.50. Our favorite deal, though, has to be on the dip trio: an array of queso, guacamole and bean dip for $10. It’s perfect for sharing and is necessary for the weekly margarita-induced unpacking session with your friends.

Taco Tuesday at Modesto is popular, like, really popular. It gets very busy on Tuesdays, so we recommend making a reservation for dinner.

Modesto is open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. at 3930 Burbank Dr.

City Slice Pizza And Pints

City Slice Pizza and Pints is in a prime location for a post-class drink with friends. Just steps away from campus – directly across the street from Pleasant Hall – awaits a happy hour menu with half-off glasses of wine, $3 well doubles and $1 off pints. There are no food deals for happy hour, but the pizza is so good that we forgive them. This 16-ounce pour of Seven Tap Waves craft beer was just $8.50.

City Slice is open for happy hour from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays at 124 W Chimes St.

Umami

Baton Rouge has a lot of great sushi restaurants. When it comes to proximity to campus, Umami may be one of the best. It’s debatable, but that’s an article for another day. What we can say with full confidence is that Umami has a great happy hour menu filled with quality dishes.

The menu is separated into $4 and $5 deals with plenty of options. For $4, you can get a snow crab roll, a crunchy roll, edamame and more. You can also get a cucumber and crab salad, pork dumplings, a yellowtail roll and more for just $5.

Select cocktails, like the Geisha, Yuzu Margarita and Japanese Mule, are just $6, and hot or cold sake is $5.

Umami is open for happy hour from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday at 3930 Burbank Dr, just a few doors down from Modesto.

Next time you have a rough day on campus, call a friend and head to one of these three close-to-campus restaurants that will welcome you with open arms and an open happy hour menu.
