5 Flavored Ice Cubes That Will up Your Coffee Game

This article is written by a student writer from the Spoon University at Losangeles chapter.

There are three things in this world all coffee lovers hate: bitter coffee, messed up coffee orders and watered down coffee. With summer melting our popsicles and now iced coffees there is only one solution to stop this water coffee madness… flavored coffee ice cubes. Looking to save yourself and your caffeinated lifeline? Take a peek at 5 ice cube flavors we deem safe for you and your precious Starbucks.

1. Coffee

Compared to the four other flavors on this list, this cube flavor require the least amount of ingredients and effort (lazy bums rejoice). Nothing beats effortless, so give these coffee cubes a chance.

What you need: 6 oz. cold brew coffee and ice cube tray. Takes 7-8 hours to freeze a usable cube.

2. Vanilla Bean

Vanilla is one of the most neutrally adored flavors in the kingdom of flavor. If you are one of those rare people who do NOT covet this sweet spice, you might want to consider giving this vanilla treat another try.

What you need: 6 oz. almond milk (or any milk product), 1 tsp. vanilla extract, 2 tbsp. granulated sugar and ice cube tray. Like the coffee cubes, they take about 7-8 hours to freeze, but the longer you wait the better.

3. Mocha

Make your cold brew coffee a fast and icy mocha with this marvelous recipe. Even if you’re not a die hard coffee addict, this flavored ice cube is the training wheels to coffee addiction…not kidding.

What you need: 6 oz. cold brew coffee, 1 cup almond milk (or any milk product), 2 tbsp. chocolate syrup and ice cube tray. Like the previous ice cubes, freeze for a minimum of 7-8 hours.

4. Nutella

I’ve said it once, and I’ll say it again. Turn Nutella into an ice cube, and you become a fancy genius. I love this cube flavor for 100 reasons, but my #1 reason is because aside from keeping your coffee (or really any beverage for that matter) chilly, it can also be used as mini Fudgesicles…now please tell me that ain’t the best thing you’ve heard all summer.

What you need: 6 oz. almond milk (or any milk product), 3 tbsp. Nutella, ice cube tray. Freeze for a minimum of 7-8 hours.

5. Caramel Latte

Caramel lattes are BASICally sugary drinks loaded with a heap of caramel, sugar, milk and a dash of coffee. Now just because there’s little to no coffee in these golden treats, doesn’t mean they can’t serve a great purpose in your cold brew coffee. Looking for a sweeter cup of joe? Try this bad cube out and let your tastebuds do the talkin’.

What you need: 6 oz. cold brew coffee, 1 cup caramel creamer and ice cube tray. Freeze for a minimum of 7-8 hours.

Currently on a "seefood diet". I see food... and then eat it.
