Where to Eat Gluten-Free in Providence

This article is written by a student writer from the Spoon University at JWU Providence chapter.

More and more people are developing Celiac disease and when it comes to going out to eat, accommodating everyone in the party can be difficult. Luckily, Providence is a great food city to get a variety of gluten-free options.

Pane E Vino

I know what you’re thinking, how could an Italian restaurant be gluten-free? Well, it’s definitely possible. Pane E Vino located in the historic federal hill section of Providence has an extensive gluten-free menu. Their entire restaurant is not gluten-free so it’s the perfect spot of a group. Menu items consist of Point Judith Calamari, Mushroom Ravoli, Risotto and Chicken Parmigiano.

The Malted Barley

Beer and Pretzels? Gluten-Free? Yes, it is a thing at The Malted Barley. The Malted Barley makes it easy to go out and enjoy a relaxing night with friends without having to worry. They offer many different types of pretzels and pretzel sandwiches such as Asiago & Parmesan, Grilled Cheese & a BLT sandwich. More than half of their menu can be made using gluten-free pretzels including dessert. They also have a handful of gluten-free beers as well as wine.

LUXE Burger Bar

Located right in downtown Providence, LUXE has a lot to offer on their gluten-free menu. Besides having gluten-free buns, they have gluten-free tuna nachos, a variety of salads, mac & cheese and of course burgers. No more having to give up burger night because of a gluten-free friend.

Nice Slice

Finding good pizza in Rhode Island (especially if your from New York/New Jersey) can be challenging and finding good gluten-free pizza is even more of a challenge. Nice Slice does a great job satisfying your pizza craving even if you are gluten-free. They also offer whole-wheat crusts and vegan options as well with a wide variety of toppings.

Pastiche Fine Desserts

Dinner is not complete on Federal Hill without a visit to Pastiche. Known for it’s variety of homemade cakes, pastries and cookies, Pastiche had something for everyone-even if you are gluten-free. For chocolate-lovers, the Torta di Cioccolata made with fresh raspberries is definitely the way to go. You can also special order any of their cakes for birthday’s, graduations etc.

Restaurants in Providence are constantly adding gluten-free products to their menu or developing completely gluten-free menus. This makes it even easier to go out with a group of friends that have certain dietary needs.
