This is not a drill. Recently Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz announced that the chain will deliver to costumers in certain markets in the second half of 2015. Apparently the company was less than impressed with its fourth-quarter sales.
“Imagine the ability to create a standing order of Starbucks delivered hot to your desk daily,” Schultz said about the delivery system’s potential. “That’s our version of e-commerce on steroids.”
I’m curious to see how this delivery system plays out and I’m left with a few questions. Will this be a Jimmy Johns type of operation where my drink is delivered incredibly fast so it stays hot? If my coffee isn’t there in 30 minutes or less can I have it for free? What will become of interns everywhere whose job is to fetch coffee?
In the mean time, let’s raise our holiday drink cups in celebration for Starbucks allowing us to be lazier than ever.
