There’s no other place like it in all of Bloomington. Janko’s Little Zagreb — known to most by “Little Z’s” or “Janko’s”—is no newcomer to B-town. As much as the city has changed and evolved throughout the years, the corner of 6th and Morton hasn’t. Little Z’s has stayed strong since 1972, never failing to serve the best steak in town for any and all events.

In past years, the steakhouse has been noted as one of the top steakhouses in Indiana and the entire Midwest as well. As for those of us students in Bloomington, Little Z’s is the ideal place to leave with leftovers we will proudly dig into the following afternoon.

Other than the critically acclaimed food, the overall environment has played a big part in what keeps costumers coming back. As high-end as the menu is, the atmosphere is pretty laid-back and casual. You’ll be sitting there having possibly the best steak of your life, in absolute disbelief that you’re not somewhere where you’re trying to act more pretentious than you truly are to your waitress.

Here you can get a great meal and not be afraid of laughing too loud among company. Maybe it’s the picnic style table cloths, or the Hoosier athletic pride that takes over the walls, or maybe even the warm theme of red, but Little Z’s just has an overall sense of home that’s not easy to find paired with such mouth-watering food.

It is traditional to order one of their famous steak dinners that are served with a baked potato and a side salad. They pride themselves in the fact that their steaks are “thick, USDA choice, and hand-cut daily”.
The menu is also overflowing with some knock-out options. There are crab legs, ribs, and vegetarian dishes that will take your heart if it turns out you’re not in the mood for steak or trying to cut dow on cholesterol. Yet if you’re lucky enough to have room after your meal, you would be a fool to say no to the fan favorite cheesecake that will surely be offered to you.

Little Z’s makes Bloomington a little bit more homely in its nature. For over 35 years it has been keeping us both stuffed and satisfied, allowing us to create worthwhile memories with our friends and families, and always keeping us wanting to come back for more.
