I Tried The Fall Flavors At Chocolate Moose And It’s Definitely Worth Your Time

The local ice cream shop The Chocolate Moose is a Bloomington, Indiana classic. To celebrate the changing of the leaves and the festive feelings that arise in Bloomington when the fall comes around, The Chocolate Moose released four fall flavors. Included in their seasonal ice cream flavors are pumpkin, maple chai cookie, campfire s’mores, and caramel apple butter. I have always loved all of their homemade flavors, so I knew I had to visit their shop to try all their new fall flavors and this how they fared.

Pumpkin

This flavor is not your typical pumpkin flavor. While pumpkin can often be too pungent and overpowering, there was subtlety to this flavor. I still tasted the hint of fall spices, the pumpkin flavor, the cinnamon, and the nutmeg, but it wasn’t overpowering. A great choice for those who want an easy to eat fall favorite.

Maple Chai Cookie

For those who find themselves gravitating towards Starbucks Chai Latte, this flavor should be your new go-to sweet treat. The ice cream features soft bites of cookie and a sweetness that is perfectly balanced by the cinnamon leaving the perfect mix of sugar and spice.

Campfire Smore’s

While not typically seen as a fall flavor, this ice cream is the perfect addition to the rest of this list, bringing a flavor for all of the chocolate lovers to balance out the vanilla base that the rest of the ice creams featured. This flavor is rich, creamy, and the best part: they do not skimp out on the chocolate pieces. Every bite has at least one chocolate chunk and when that chunk melts away, there is the perfect taste of Graham crackers, subtle yet present, to really complete the Smore’s experience.

Now this final flavor is for all of those people out there who are craving something super sweet as this ice cream was the sweetest of the four. Rich and decadent, this ice cream is the perfect end to any meal. I would especially recommend this ice cream after a long-day or a late night when you just need something sweet and heavy to hit the spot.

Consensus on Chocolate Moose’s Fall Flavors

The Chocolate Moose is truly a classic and the best spot for homemade ice cream in Bloomington. This long-standing restaurant that has been a favorite of every Hoosier who has walked the streets of Kirkwood downtown. And while you cannot go wrong with any of their homemade flavors, I would definitely suggest trying their special because the fall flavors were definitely a hit!

Disclaimer: The Chocolate Moose has moved on from their fall flavors, and most likely will be sold out at the time of this posting. However, you can check out their website HERE to see current flavors and specials!
