What to Wear When You Have a Giant Food Baby

This article is written by a student writer from the Spoon University at Holy Cross chapter.

We have all been there. You go out to an amazing restaurant on a Friday night and absolutely stuff yourself. As you should after a tough week, being on that #grindd, and eating in the subpar half-edible dining hall all week, you deserve it.

However, it always seems like a great idea until you stand up to leave the restaurant. Suddenly, those five appetizers and two desserts are not sitting well. Did this crop top get smaller, or is it just me? You want to unbutton your jeans but know you must resist.

You promise yourself next time that you won’t eat nearly as much. But come on, what fun is that? You may have to scratch the crop top for the night, but we have some clothing suggestions that will give you a little more wiggle room and also guarantee you will look hot. That sounds like a win to me.

High Waisted Jeans

High waisted jeans give you the best of both worlds. They are pretty trendy right now and make your legs look a mile long. They will hit right below your belly button, essentially concealing all of that excess food you ate.

Baby Doll Shirt

These shirts are super cute, and are very flattering on most people. They are usually tighter on top and then flow out at the top of the rib cage. They give you the ability to show off a little chest while concealing your dinner. Score.

Another trendy item, these will keep you looking fun and fresh. They are not clingy and have a loose feel so your stomach does not feel restricted. When these can be pulled off, they are a staple to your wardrobe for every post eating session.

Peplum shirts start to flow out right when you need them to. They get you. They are tight on top all the way until the belly button. Then they become your savior and flow outward.

Shift Dress

Shift dresses are sophistication. They show you mean business, but can also be a lot of fun to jazz up with cool necklaces. Oh yeah, did we mention loose on the stomach? I’ll buy ten.

Banded Waistline Pants

Banded waist-line pants have a very stretchy elastic waistline that will fit snug to your body. They will hold in all that extra dessert without putting pressure on your stomach. Most of them are tight and have a legging-like feel, so you can be comfortable, but also show off your curves.

High Waisted Skirt

Wow, are these a great creation. High waisted skirts are so fab because you can even use your little extra stomach to hold them up. They are like an excuse to eat more. High waisted skirts even beat out high waisted pants because you don’t have to jam your legs into anything. Who created pants anyway? If you are feeling super confident, you can even pair your favorite crop top with it.

Romper

You can work a romper anytime, anywhere. They are perfect for every occasion and come in so many styles. They are usually made from loose-fitting material that will not cling to your body. A key to success

High-Low Dress

These dresses have some nice flow going on. They are longer in the back and are a little shorter in the front so you can show off your legs. That extra food in your stomach will seem non-existent.

If all else fails, there are always baggy sweatpants and a sweatshirt to fall back on.
