Nothing gets me more excited than when Opus sends out their menus for the week. Not only does the food always make me drool, but the content of the email is always top-notch. This article will help you decide what to order on your frequent trips to the phenomenal Opus Cafes’ on campus.
From the every day treats to the weekly specials, Opus 1 in McEwen and Opus 2 in the Science Center are two spots on campus you do not want to forgo. I understand that it’s hard to decide what to order, especially when you do not want to end up spending your paycheck in just one visit to Opus by ordering all of their delicious options, so use this article as your guide!
Avocado Hero
Just look at that avo! The avocado is accompanied by tomato, bean sprouts, pickled onions, and cheese, all surrounded by delicious bread, yum.
Avocado and Sweet Potato Sandwich
Avocado, sweet potato, cheese, bean sprouts, tomato, and mayo squished between a multigrain roll… let me just say this was absolutely delicious! But make sure to bring napkins because it can get pretty messy, however, don’t let that stop you from enjoying this delectable ‘wich!
Mango Brie Panini
Opus 1 served up this beaut and our very own Katherine O’Malley highly approves! Katherine stated that “the highlight is lots of Brie. And it’s all so melty and good!”
Pesto Pizza
Get yourself some of this zaaaaaa. It was incredible! Perfectly cooked, crisp crust topped with a generous amount of pesto, stringy mozzarella cheese, sliced tomato, and a hint of basil – not only does it look appetizing, it even sounds scrumptious.
Apple Cheddar Panini
Opus 1 delivered big time with this mouthwatering panini. Layered gorgeously between 2 slices of bread are apple slices, cheddar cheese, onions, and lettuce. And who isn’t satisfied when they take a bite of a panini and the cheese is all gooey?
Grilled Caprese Wrap
A spinach wrap filled with mozzarella cheese, tomatoes, greens, and delectable pesto and is then paninied (if that’s not a word, then it is now). Opus 1 definitely would have me coming back for one of these if they served it daily.
Harera Soup
One of the leaders of the Slow Food club at Hamilton ordered this soup from Opus 1 and had very high regards! I have never heard of this soup before, but it looks tasty!
Sweet Potato and Avocado Panini
This is my favorite of the bunch that I have tried so far. Opus 2 served up this magnificent panini and I could not say no. It consists of avocado, sweet potato, swiss cheese, and kale. Besides, who could say no to avo and sweet potato?
Hummus Wrap
This is served daily at Opus 2 and you can honestly never go wrong with this combination of succulent flavors – hummus, carrots, tabbouleh, and lettuce are all wrapped up in a whole wheat wrap. If you’re feeling spicy, ask for the one with Sriracha!
Vegetarian Chili
An every day offering at O2, the vegetarian chili is the perfect item to warm you up and satisfy your hunger. I honestly even prefer it over meat chili.
Chocolate Chip Cookie
Nothing beats a nice warm cookie during a study break than one of Opus’. The chocolate in the Chocolate Chip Cookie gets all gooey and it is extremely satisfying when you take a bite and the chocolate drizzles out. My favorite cookies include the Chocolate Chip Cookie, the Cinnamon Raisin Cookie, and one more to be mentioned later!
Chocolate Chip Muffin
Purchase a coffee alongside your muffin as a nice pick-me-up before that AM class! The muffins are moist and warm and just overall delicious and they will surely brighten your morning (or any time of day). Favorites include the Cinnamon Chip Muffin, the Blueberry Muffin, and the good old fashioned Chocolate Chip Muffin.
Peanut Butter Cookie
Last, but most certainly not least, and especially worthy of its own entry are Opus’ infamous peanut butter cookies. These need no explanation whatsoever; just one tip: ask for them warmed up and it will be an extra delectable experience. You will definitely be running back for more.
The Opus Cafes have many more amazing options, as well, and I highly recommend you get on over there and order some exquisite food. Don’t forget to grab a good ol’ cup of joe (hot or iced) or some warm tea while you’re there, too.
