The Mad Hatter, in Captiva, Florida, provides dinners with a stunning front row view of the beach along with delicious American cuisine and seafood. Coming from someone who lives for trying new restaurants, this meal was one of the best I have had in a very long time.
The Mad Hatter is a hidden gem with a unique theme and beautiful view. If you ever find yourself in Captiva Island, unsure of where to eat, here are five reasons why you should choose The Mad Hatter.
1. Location
The Mad Hatter is located in Captiva on Sanibel Island. There is a glass window that extends the width of the restaurant so that everyone can witness the picturesque sunset. It is without a doubt the perfect ending to any day.
2. Ambience
The Mad Hatter’s theme truly sets it apart from all other restaurants. When you walk inside it is as if you are inside the classic children’s story, Alice in Wonderland.
3. Appetizers
The Mad Hatter has a wide variety of appetizers, all of which are incredibly flavorful. Calling all goat cheese lovers, the goat cheese pillows are to die for. The warm goat cheese truly hits the spot!
The blue crab cake comes with Panko crusted jumbo lump crab cake, crowned with tropical fruit salsa and finished with mango cream beurre blanc.
4. Entrees
I had a hard time choosing which entree to have as the menu was filled with many options. I chose the black truffle sea scallops and the grilled filet mignon. To my delight, both were perfectly prepared.
The second entree was grilled filet mignon with béarnaise sauce served with Yukon mashed potatoes and grilled asparagus. The asparagus was hands down the best I have ever had.
5. Dessert
The cheesecake was the perfect last dish and left me wanting it again and again! The light, crustless NY Style cheesecake was garnished with crème anglaise, fresh whipped cream, and berries.
My meal at The Mad Hatter was an absolute success and it was one of those dining experiences that I have been thinking about it ever since.
