Rumour is that an eatery on campus used to be a cattle arena. Built in 1901, the Bullring was indeed originally a building that housed horses, cattle, sheep, and other animals. By 2003, the enclosure stands instead as a fully licensed pub and is now one of the most beloved eateries on campus; this is in part due to its interior presentation being centred around your very own campus living room.
1. Food

Want something light? No problem, just dig into some of their fresh salads and soups. How about the classics? Give their signature sandwiches—ones that students wait in ridiculously long lines for—a shot. Craving multicultural cuisine? Easy, because the Bullring serves everything from exotic Chicken Tikka Masla, to fresh Antojitos, to just good old Mac N Cheese. Waiting to be surprised? Check their Twitter for updates on daily specials.
They also have a wide selection of delicious vegetarian options and vegan desserts just to top off the list. Regardless, you are bound to find something on the menu to satisfy your food craving—just be careful not to drool. Did I mention that their combos are under ten dollars and they also accept student cards? Jackpot.
2. Atmosphere

True to its mission to become the “living room” on campus, the bullring boasts a spacious dining area with sofas, chairs, and tables for students to chill and eat. You don’t have to buy anything to come in to microwave your meal, hang out, or even study with some awesome 80s tracks playing as ambient background music. The pub is run by CSA, who employs mostly students, so make sure to say hi to your fellow Gryphons when ordering.
3. Arts

Every year, the CSA collaborates with FAN (the Fine Arts Network) to give students an opportunity to exhibit their art pieces in the Bullring for the semesters. Music and art, good food and even better company—what better combination is there?
4. Open Mics

Arguably the most popular event at the Bullring is this particular one. Hosted every Wednesday night, students from all disciplines and ages are welcome. You can always tune in for a spectacular show hosted by students, or, if you’re brave enough, you can show off your naturally born talents. Trust me, this place is a goldmine for talent.
5. Sustainability

Perhaps the most note-worthy of all is Bullring’s commitment to sustainability. Adding in somewhat of a rebellious flare, sustainability is something that really speaks out to the student population and what ultimately makes Bullring stand out.
The majority of Bullring’s produce are all fresh from local sources. This ranges from fair trade coffee to campus owned honey to even the vinegar used in salad dressing. The Bullring really takes the concept of sustainability to another level (big or small). They are also avid supporters of the Bottled Water Free Campaign, which is aimed to eliminate bottled water on campus.
Whether you are a music junkie, art fanatic, food enthusiast, or just someone who wants to try and experience something new, you’re always welcome to visit this homey pub. All it takes is a quick shortcut through the Bullring the next time you head from lectures in Rozanski or back.
